first of all sorry for my newbness i have searched and cant really seem to find what i'm looking for. anyways. i am looking at buying some 17X8 +25 5zigen fn's from a guy for the FRONT of my S13. (I'm 5 lug) just wondering if these will clear my z brakes, how flush are they, and how will a 255/40/17 fit on there? (i hate stretch btw) thankyou for the help, and please excuse my newbness.

Dont buy them. Weak size and offset.

word, 9" minimum on the front.

those would be sunken and skinny.

and even if you like meaty tires, 255 on an 8" wheel is really big...

actually +35 is sunk, +25 would be okayish size

but +1 for the 9s in front fo sho

fuck those guys, 8"s are fine in front. 8" wide is only weak if you're trying to impress people on the internet. or if you have a lot of power and huge brakes. if your car is relatively stock, they're fine. 9" with square tires on an S13 (and i'm guessing no camber plates) is going to cause some problems in the front of an s13.

FNs should clear z32 brakes just fine. but 255 is too wide. i've got 225s on my 16x8"s and it's a very mild stretch. 235/40/17 is just about the perfect size. it's square, they're right height (unlike the 255s) and the selection is pretty broad. 265/35/17 on a 9" wide wheel is what i'd do on the rear.

yeah i know everyone one the internet says "run 19X12 and stretch a 225 on those SOB's!" no thanx.. the car will have an LS1 so i need plent of rubber on the ground. and i want to run the RT-615, but they dont make a 245 40 17 or i would run those.

cdlong already chimed in, but eh I feel like typing

- Yes will clear Z brakes

- They do not require fender roll, but I wouldn't call them "flush" (but its relative to each person what they consider flush)

- I would NOT put a 255/40/17 up front on a 240, EVER. It's not a matter of stretch or not, but 255/40/17 is WAY too much tire to be putting up front (in this situation). Too wide and too much sidewall.

A 235/40/17 would be more than adequate, and even if you are going to be racing, I still think buying less tire than you need then learning to exceed the tire's limits is more worthwhile both experience wise and financially.

Especially since you mention you are a noob, I would suggest even moreso to not go with that sizing of tire. Keep in mind that adding more tire is not a solution to better driving.

^I agree

I am going 17x8 17x9 for my track wheels 235/40 255/40 NT01's. Plenty of rubber for a track day 260ish whp sr 240.

Look on the 5zigen website > 5ZIGEN USA official website (http://www.5zigenusa.com/english/products/wheel/proracer/fn01rchot.html)

Says it clears nissan and evo brakes.

i know but im going to have about 380hp to the wheels. im not saying im a noob about cars/driving, just on wheel fitment. and with nearly 400hp i think i may need 255's in the front

aspec is right, but if you want to run 255s, fine. but it should be a on at least a 9" wheel. a 255 on a 8" would best be described as floppy. tire size determines wheel size, not the other way around.

i know. damn but i really wanna get these wheels they're so cheap lol :-(. 235 in the front and 275 in the back is too much of a gap isnt it?

why do you want such huge tires? they are not needed for 400 horsepower.

a 255 for your NON DRIVE wheels? no way..

i think a 235/255 stagger will be PLENTY

thats too big of a stagger though i dont think it will handle very well, and longgrain, so i can TURN.

it's becoming evident that you don't know what you want, and also don't know what you're talking about.

aspec was right. he usually is. get the wheels if you want em, but you have a big range of tires you're able to mount on them.

255 for the fronts? We all know that 265's will be better for the fronts!

255's will be cool for the front. its the sidewall that you want...too much. go 35 or if your even loco...go 30's on some 18's.

wait a minute...i forgot you're a noob, but we forgive your newbness. if you searched :duh:

http://zilvia.net/f/chat/166563-maximum-rubber-wheel-fitment-thread.html

you might have found your answer.

thats what we're here for. now you know, and knowing is half the battle. capiche.

OH wait..... you mean you've already made up your mind on the whole situation? seems like an illogical standpoint to start a thread asking a question, then rebutt everyone's suggestions with your original idea.

I run 195's on an 8 inch wide wheel, I'm not the person you should be taking advice from... but almost everyone else had logial helpful suggestions. If you wanna run a 255, go nuts... but don't ask for help if you already have made up your mind.

thanx for all the help lol. wow 195's on an 8 :-(. waste
