mark you were right, i really wasn't that impressed.

have these guys ever heard of brake modulation? geez, they lock em up and go sliding for 50 yards without what seems like any attempt to correct.

and how about that idiot going the wrong way?

with that said, the GT300 guys seemed to be a fair bit worse than the GT500.

also, what's the deal with the engines? did i see that they said there was a 2000cc turbo in those supra's?? wtf is that? the NA 2.5 Impreza i can kinda understand, but the supra? and i think i saw a 1996CC turbo in a skyline as well. odd, very odd.

The Supra was running a 2L which was pushed back towards the center of the car for better weight distribution. The 2jz-gte being a great engine and all doesn't help much for handling. At least, that's generally the case with those cars... with a 500hp limit, what's the point in using an overkill engine?

i can understand the logic in that.

11:00pm PST :D

I like JGTC... not as technical as say... SCCA Pro Touring, but the style can be summed up as 'pure uninhibited madness'

I do wish they would make the program at least an hour long instead of a wimpy 30 minutes.

Yeah - I saw some more carnage last night. But I have to make a few points in fairness. That is a world class series - and while they don't look it, they are going awfully fast (according to some junkies who have compared times from the limited number of times an FIA GT car has been on one of these courses

More imporantly, I think, we've got to remember that these are 30 minute highlight shows from two hour (or more) races. If you have 10 mistakes in a single two hour race, that isn't bad - but it will make it look like a bunch of lunatics in a 30 minute show. Still, I think officiating is terrible and that 30% of the field could be black flagged for stupid things like not obeying flagmen.

The car rules are just weird. Those I really don't get.

As for the 300 vs. 500, the word is that the 300 is basically a series for people w/ a lot of money who want to race in the premier series. In the US, there are certainly GT drivers who are not up to par, but are out there. Usually ours are more cautious... oh well. (Euro and US gentlemen racers don't seem to be as willing to throw away the rest of their race for a single pass).

So I've softened my initially hard stance on the series -- at least until I'm able to see video of a whole race to see if that stuff happens constantly or just enough to fill 21 minutes of tape.
