[I posted this on FA too, so no, you're not trippin' :0]

Okay, so this might be a bit confusing to some, so bear with me. I'm gonna try my best to explain this.

I'm in the middle of swapping a SR20DET motor into a 1989 S13 Coupe that previous had a SOHC KA24E motor.

On both trannys, there are several "things" sticking out on one side (what are these things? please enlighten my ignorant ass). I believe it's on the passenger side if you're looking at it from the front of a USDM car.

The SR has two of these "things"; one above the speed sensor towards the end of the tranny (near where the shifter goes), and another towards the front of the tranny (closer to the motor).

The SOHC KA, however, has THREE of these "things"; one above the speed sensor (Same location as on the SR), one on the end towards the front of the trany (Same as the SR), and one in between the other two. This last one I just mentioned is not even present on the SR!

Further, the connector plugs on these things are different between the SR and the KA... the KA plugs are huge, but the SR ones are very small and thin.

I checked the wiring on them, and here's how it goes:
SR: thing #1 - yellow/yellow [connector plug wires are black/green-orange]
thing #2 - black/black [connector plug wires are green-blue/green-white]

KA: thing #1 - yellow/yellow [connector plug wires are black/green-orange]
thing #2 - black/black [connector plug wires are yellow-blue/black]
thing #3 - black/black [connector plug wires are green-blue/green-white]

So, as you can see, two of the three on the KA match what's on the SR, but the plugs are still different, and that leaves an orphaned plug. Do I go with my gut instinct, and re-solder the connector plugs from the KA to the SR so it matches? Do I leave it alone? Does it even matter?

I kinda want to get this out of the way so I can go ahead and drop in the motor, but I Wanted to be sure I'm doing the right thing before I mess this thing up and I'm forced to remove the motor. :/

Also, there' a vaccuum hose on the SR tranny. Runs from towards the end to the front, where its attached to a small brass hose that has another open end. What's it for, and where does it go?

Anyhow, thanks in advance, and I hope that makes sense...

The two 'thingies' are probably your Neutral and Reverse switches. They are somewhat important, esp if you'd like your reverse lights to come on.

The 'vacuum hose' is actually just a breather line for excess fluid to go into (and exit from, if necessary).
