so i was drivin my new sr20det engine (33K miles). seals blew on trubo replaced that. started right up- took for a quick ride and had my controller pretty low no more than 14 psi, my guage wasnt working at the time but it didnt feel like it was too quickl/at a high boost, i ran it up a lil maybe 5500rpms, in 3rd, then pressed in the clutch it started to sputter so i cut it off and rolled into the drive way. i went to start it the next day...NOTHING. just cranked and cranked. did a compression test and it was pretty low (less than 100) i dont remeber exactly what. i went and bought and put in an apexi 1.5mm stock bore head gasket. i realize now i shud of just got a stock thickness one but whatever. i went to start in today and it just cranked and cranked.
I am wondering why the compression might have just all of a sudden shot down cuz it felt fine until it died on that lil ride?
<br>
Also cud my timing (crank sensor) be 180 off? cuz i didnt set it TDC before i took the head off. i set it back to FSM timing but i think its still possible to be 180deg off. can i just unplug the crank sensor to reset or do i need to spin the cank 180 and put the chain back on. idk if this is a problem yet cuz the compression isnt at optimal psi still.
thanks in advance

check your ECU for Codes.
150psi is normal compression on a good SR if your Compression is in the 100's then that engine is toast.
if it all of a sudden fell on its face and has shitty compression you probably Blew the head gasket.
Do a leak down test to isolate the problem.

Sounds like you might of blown a head gasket. I don't know what else you have done to the car, but if it's bone stock and has stock injectors and your turning the boost up to 1 bar (which almost double the stock level). You probably were running real lean with a lot of knock. Thats how you blow motors. Chck the oil, if it's milky then you got lucky. If not then you probably blew a piston ring of something. But like i said i dont know you setup.

Its all stock, and like i said i thot it wud be a hg to thahts why i replaced it. but it still seems to have low compression. i'm about to re check it tho.

So wait, you run 14 psi on stock everything including stock side mount???
You probably run the car lean and was detonating. Do another compression check, drop a cap full of oil in the sparkplug hole, if the compression goes up, you're rings are toasty.
If its HG, check your coolant, if its milky then, HG is toast.

it seems to be that my rings are all leaking. i made a leakdown tester with a bike rubber handle grip pushed down into the spark plug "well" which seals enuff then i put an air nozzle into the hole on the top side and 3 of the pistons had air coming out the dipstick tube which means fried rings...sweet. well atleast i no the problem now. gonna put all new stock pistons and rings in it includin an upgraded set of main bearings.
thanx for the advice tho everyone.

ifthis motor really means something to you, which i know mine does to mean, spend the money and buy a leakdown compression gauge. don't ghetto fab one. unless you want ghetto fab results... it will save you time to do it right the first time.
