well i noticed that there was spots of somthing in my driveway the other day. since i work at pepboys i decided to bring it up on the lift today and take a look. well i found out that oil is leaking from my valve cover and dripping down, and my tranny is leaking from the pump seal. the valve cover is no prob but the tranny has to be taken out in order to replace the front seal. wich will cost like 800 bucks wich i dont have. anyway its a piece of ish auto so if anyone knows where i could get a tranny swap to manual for around that it would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if you know all the parts you need for it, but this thread (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21181) basically goes through the swap, search around and I am sure you will find more info on where to get the parts.

So you have an auto? Because I was quoted 700 dollars for an auto < manual swap WITH engine work. And the engine work had to include something like turboing the motor or anything that required the engine to be hoisted.

Bad news for all sorts of people today. I've got the same valve cover leak (meh, 20 minute job once I get the parts), but my engine's front and rear main seals are both leaking as well :(
And my transmission drain plug is frozen and stripped. . .
EDIT: Sorry to piss and moan in your piss and moan thread, just didn't feel like wasting a new topic for it :P

You can message him online through AOL/AIM as: Daunttless Cool guy he is part of the 240sx.org crew (3,000+ posts) and alot of the old people hanging around the org forums recommend him. I will probably end up getting my work done through him as well, but as of now I can't say how my experience was. Anyways he is in Iowa... pretty damn far from you but, eh. Also, they have a auto > manual instructions on the installs part of the forum for an S14 if that would help any. Peace out.
P.S. Remember that is with engine work, he is a pretty reasonable guy but dont ask him to put in new spark plugs and while hes at it do the conversion, beause he doesn't make alot of cash off of that (prolly none) and it uses up his time.

It cost me about $1400 to swap my tranny to 5sp. If you can do it for any cheaper, you are getting a good deal. I bought the parts and had someone do it, since I don't have a lift.
