excuse the cell pics, they look way better on the car in person, i just need to borrow a good camera. once i throw on a kit, and repaint, they will have a different look too. my car is horrable lookin right now, rubber all over the 1/4's and tirewall/cone marks lol.

i almost did $100 bills, but an s13 with fn's wouldnt be so fitting lol. maybe if i had some huge works or somthing.

I think that it's pretty cool when you can see it up close but from afar, however, I would think that the design could blend together and appear like just dirty wheels. Perhaps a more bold design or thicker spokes would make the design stand out just a bit more.

This is all nitpicking because at the end of the day, they're pretty fuckin cool.

Vinny
09-15-2008, 09:19 PM
Digital camo prolly would have worked better if the spokes were fatter, rather than skinny. Cuz as stated, it just looks like dirt. Clean execution tho. Wonder what others have come up with.

I don't really care for the look but big points for creativity...

if this process isn't too expensive I've got a bunch of parts I'd love to do in CF or brushed aluminum.

CF wheels with a polished lip would look awesome IMO... it would look like gun metal from a distance but then up close people would be like WTF are those CF Wheels?

Maybe do something like this on brake calipers too... On a green or tan car, camo calipers might look pretty cool, otherwise brushed aluminum or CF calipers would look pretty Bad-ass IMO.

You probably just lost a shitload of christmas spending money by saying that.
Somebody pick up the market void he just exposed and tossed in the trash for someone else. I can see a big business in just valve covers alone. Holy $hit. :Ownedd:

Well I think he's just testing the waters right now. Spending 600 (or whatever it is) on a advertisers account is a risky thing for some small businesses. Although, I will gladly send them some stuff to do work on when I get my finances in order, as will others undoubtably. It might just be worth it for them.

he was considering becoming a site sponsor, and judging by this thread, it sounds like a good idea.

i'm still curious about how the patterns line up. for wood grain or camo the orientation doesn't matter, but if you have a picture on a valve cover or something that needs to line up, would that work or would the alignment be a shot in the dark?

i love how everyone is saying the camo looks dirty from far away. duh, it's camo, it's designed to blend in with stuff.

the reason i said dont ask for quotes here is i didnt want to get hit with a ban stick for being a spammer since i had like one post when i started this thread. plus i would rather keep the quoting on my email and im trying to drive people to our site, www.dip-tech.net (http://www.dip-tech.net) im going to set up as an advertiser here hopefully at the end of this week once we get our new improved site posted, the present site was just a temperary free one wile we do our acctual site. we are ready for full production, i just didnt want to rub the mods the rong way before i gave them money lol.

heres some prices on some typical stuff.
all prices are for any color, any print.
$450 for 4 14" and smaller wheels
$500 for 4 15"-18" wheels

$240 for 2 v8 valve covers
$160 for front bumper lip "pignose, zeinki, koiki, etc..." price does not include repairing srape marks from road.

More power to you though, never seen that before!

I agree, it looks like you took those wheels mud-bogging in some river.

What do they look like spinning while driving on them anyways?

Try a different color coordination, not the military standard colors.

The $100 dollar bills and wood grain look lame. Stick to industrial and automotive racing type patterns like CF or dimond cut patterns.

It's an excellent touch of creativity, but it just seems the color of the car doesn't really do the wheels any justice. Maybe with another scheme it might work better, but not being able to see it in person, I don't think I can say much.

420sx
10-12-2008, 07:10 PM
the film is ink. its paint. its NOT vinyl or a sticker. its all in the prep! if you go to my page i have a section on the process, it explains it pretty well

and the wheels hold up great. 90% of wheels on cars are painted from the factory and im telling you, the spokes on those Rays wheels are factory paint and its crap, ours looks tons better. but since they mass produce those wheels im sure they are not going to wetsand, buff and polish wheels like us lol.

Is there an article on this process I'm really curious to know more. Hydro what?
hydrographics is a water transfer printing technique, it is used in tons of different industrys, from automotive, to fashon, coffins, to building materials and appliances. we simply offer it to the public catering to custom automotive and what ever people want dipped.

it is an ink image printed on to a water saluable film wich is then placed on water, once the film desolves only the ink is left floating on the water, then you spray it with an activator, wich turns the ink back into a liquid, then dip the part and image gets printed onto the part as its lowered into the water. theres more to it but thats basicly what happens.

how much does a operation like that run for?
for parts or to start a shop doing this?

the reason we used that blue is because it matches his 350z electron blue. but hey, i think it turned out great. definitely could be a different color. those wheels are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. 5k for the set 1200 each front and 1300 each rear....

Sorry, I don't want to go through all the pages. I checked your website, but I couldn't find plain flat black finish. Is it available?

nisracer
04-03-2009, 10:57 AM
that would be plain black paint. most of the color you see on our parts is the base coat under the film, the film is simply an ink image, it has no structure, so if someone wants a plain color it will just be regular automotive paint.

in the pics it just makes your wheels look dirty. Maybe better pics or a better looking car is required...

i thought they looked a bit dirty myself. very hard on the eyes if you ask me....which you kind of did. nice try on originality though.

Let me know if you get the CRYE multicam film.

here is the deal on that film. i tried to get some to do an ar for a local project here.

they will NOT sell the film. its exclusive to them only; the guy i talked to was a prick.

however, i have a film that looks exactly the same except it looks more like cloth (light part of the film looks like cloth material). i seriously dont see much difference beyond that one particular nuisance.

about the jlines :) im pretty excited to see the pics on the s14.
