Well, i have an s14 and s13 both with sr20's in them. I relocated my better to the trunk in the s14 a while back, with no problems whatsoever. So today, i purchased FMIC for my s13 got it hooked up and relocated the batter to the trunk. The car wouldn't start no matter what we did. I did the SAME EXACT setup as i did with my s14. I used 4g wire for the posi. Question that i really need answered is........

Do i really need to use fuses? Can i just run the wires from the alt/starter to the trunk and ground it in the back? Or do i absolutely need to use fuses?

This is exactly what i did for both s13 and s14.

Try a thicker gauge wire or try jumping it connecting the battery up front, my buddy had an issue with 4g being too small.

Also fuses are great to have, so I would put them if I were you, better yet get a breaker from darvex.comor something.

4ga is plenty thick.

Yes, you need fuses, inline fuses and fuse holders for car audio amps work best. You'd hate to have the insulation rub and short your main +12v wire.

Make sure your grounds are good - a good ground means a solid piece of metal that's welded (not bolted) to the frame of the car, with all the paint sanded off. I go overboard and weld battery posts to the rear inner fender, but a screw-in battery post would work well too if you prepped properly.

After that, it's just a matter of having everything hooked up correctly, and having enough voltage (need at least 12.5v to have everything crank over and start).

Thanks guys, i really appreciate it. I'm pretty sure it has to do with a poor grounding issue since the lights like to flicker on and off really fast as if there was a horrid grounding problem.
