Very pumped to share the new dyno numbers with you. Took the car back to Abel Racing last night, and Andrei Mitine tuned the low boost map for the target goal of 25 PSI on E85.

The car put down an amazing 726whp/502tq! Enjoy the video, and look for a race gas video in the next few weeks. Shooting for 35 PSI, and 900+ whp.

So.... what flew off of the car when you let off after the 25psi run?

It went flying then bounced around.

That power curve is beautiful! Great job and good luck with 900. :snoop:

What on Earth are you smoking? It doesn't even hit 200whp or lb-ft of torque until about 5k rpm. That is not exactly what I would call a "good" powerband. You want a powerband, consider a Kenne Bell-supercharged LS1 with over 600lb-ft of torque at the wheels from less than 2k rpm all the way to redline on pure 91 octane pump gas. Now that's a beautiful powerband! Think about what that could run on E85! :wackit:

Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to bash. That's a sick car and that's a lot of power no matter how you look at it. But that lack of any low end or midrange grunt would make me wish for a lot more displacement or a much smaller turbo the first time I got stuck in a higher gear.

how much did it cost you??? to make that kind of power???

Thats a super charged v8... kind different than a turbo charged Inline 6.. everything always comes down to v8s... " you want real power get your self a v8!!" Man fuck v8s... most people with v8s are pussy's with the exception of a few.. and thats a 4th gear pull it would be alot different if it was on the streets. power to weight ratio my friend.. you v8 guys better be sacred cause in the drag racing world you guys arent falling off of your throne.. I4's/I6's and v6's are coming for that ass

Very, we were running out of fuel via dual Walbro's...we made the absolute most peak HP we could, just to see how far we can get.

Aeromotive sponsored the 240SX today guys, big thanks to them. The new fuel system went in the mail today, we should have it, and new dyno numbers...next weekend!

You're an idiot, when are you ever under 5k when you're racing?

I do have to admit that the v8 tq (which is what really matters) Is appealing.

My Lq9 (iron block ls1) makes over 800 rwtq at 2000 rpm. And goes to over 1100 rwtq by 6k.

Either way. That rb makes alot of power.
From my experience that particular rb should be making more Tq than it is. We will see what it does on some higher octane.

Of course it's different. But for me it's not about cylinder count or cool factor or bragging rights or any of that. It's about results. And you wanna talk power/weight ratio? LS1s weigh less than RB26s. Power/weight ratio goes in the LS1's favor at the same power levels. But you have to understand I'm not a "V8 person". I'm not an anything person. I just like modified cars period. Funny thing is I have always been wayyyyy more into imports than domestics, and only recently realized what all the hub bub was about big V8s.

You're an idiot, when are you ever under 5k when you're racing?

There's no need to resort to childish name-calling. Please talk to me with respect and on an adult level. That said, I don't really care much about racing so much as I do street performance. Not even making decent power till 5-6K wouldn't be satisfying to me on the street. Oh, and even if you're talking about racing, having a large powerband is very important. Especially if you're talking about road racing, I'd rather have a 2000-6500rpm powerband than 6000-8000rpm. And it would even be advantageous in drag racing too.

Once again though I'm not bashing this car, the RB26, or the accomplishments of the builders and tuners of this car. I actually have big respect for them just for using E85. I love that shit! Corn, it's what's for boost. LOL.

Are people still honestly surprised when someone shows big numbers and it takes a while to spool? It's almost a given.

Why is everybody comparing 700 this, 900 that, 1000 plus whatever?

What do you do with that power, can you actually put it down anywhere useful?

handinpants
09-13-2008, 01:21 AM
how much money went into making these horsepower numbers? and how fast can you get groceries in it?

So....

What flew off of the car towards the end of that video?

It was right at the end of the 25psi run, when he let off. A small piece of something flew off of the car from the front of the engine bay and bounced around a few times all over the garage after that.

Update:

Had the car shot yesterday by two automotive photographers here in Oklahoma City. I’ll let you be the judge of the new setup; these really do the car justice. Hope you enjoy!

Here is my opinion, remember that's all it is.

The color is beautiful. The front bumper is horrid. The mismatching rear bumper throws off the look.

The wheel fitment sucks.

The wheel gap sucks

The turbo takes a LONG TIME to spool. Great numbers but with a fasting spooling turbo you will love the wider power band.

This is like a surprise orgasm. You don't know it's coming and then BOOM there it is and you are done. I like those ones that you can feel coming, take awhile to get there and then BOOM. If you know what I mean.

With a few tweaks here and there the car would be (in my eyes) a work of art.

But it's your car your money, so take out of my comments what you will.

To me the car seems more like a trailer queen with a huge HP number so you can display at shows to get that OH factor. If this is the case then good job. But I don't see any usable power for the street with such a long spool time.
