so I just finished the bondo work one some areas where the spoiler's fiberglass cracked. the spoiler has already been painted blue. However, I am looking to re-paint it white. My question is, how do I go about doing this? do I need to remove all the old blue paint before I can re-spray? if so, how? etc, etc. A link to a guide would help aswell.
Thanks in advance.

havn't decided yet because this paint job is only temp untill I get it my entire car done.
So I don't need to take off the original paint? just primer over it?
just make the surface is smooth. primer doesn't fill in everything.

sand down all the clear off the original paint. with 320-400 grit. Give a quick once over with acetone/was and grease remover, and paint

i would take the bondo out, if it is in a part of the wing that will be under stress. instead of bondo, there is a compound called defcon iirc, much stronger and less prone to cracking.

^^^ was waiting for someone to point that out
defcon is cool but is little over kill for a wing i would only use it on areas that had seams or high impact areas. heres are the steps on what to do:
1. sand off the body filler aka bondo with 180 grit
2. buy some fiber glass resin or short strand fiber glass reinforced body filler
3. apply some normal body filler or light wieght if u have it
4(optional but highly reccomend) apply a polyester finishing glaze putty to help with filling in sand scracthes/ minor low spots/ blending the panel... make sure u make an egg shape on the repair area
5: feather out the repair area with 180-220 grit along about an inch or 2 around the repair to avoid lines, ridges and low spots.
6. spray a primer surfacer on the repair area-2-3 coats
7.wet sand the wing with 320-400 grit. I like to 600 grit if i'm using mettalics
8. spray ur paint and clear! and ur done. I can tell you ur only going to need about 3 oz of primer. 4 oz of paint and maybe 5 oz of clear/ So your going to have enough left over to do it over 4 times. So if u mess up dont worry. You'll have enough materials to cover you. Just get a pint of primer w/activator/reducer, pint of paint with act/reducer, 1 quart of clear(smallest you can get) with activator.
if you decide to use spray can paint then i would sand off it all off when ur gonna paint with 180 or 220 grit da paper. use a sealer to seal and chemicals that lead to future problems with your real autmotive paint.
I also didnt meantion but remember to use wax/grease remover before you start on a repair and before you primer and paint. Let the solvents dry for about 10-15 min or else it will get trapped under the primer or paint and cuase solvent pop. It look mily under the paint. Hope that helps. You can paint your wing for under 120.00 if u shop around enough.
