View Full Version : S14 aluminum coolant res. tank?
Hey i am looking for a aluminum coolant res. tank. i cant find one for the s14. The only thing that pops up when i search everywhere is the s13 ones. Anybody know of somebody that makes one or sells one? maybe build my own.. but where do i get the fitting for the pressurized cap?
I tried finding one. But after about a hour and a half, no luck. Maybe modify a s13 one to work? Help would be appreciated..

if you relocate your fusebox on the s14 you can use an s13 reservoir tank, they fit up there nice and snug.
right, but if i move the body wiring harness, its going to be to put in a painless harness to save weight, and sell some lucky guy on here my body wiring..
but i dont know if i want to do all that work yet..

eh, just food for thought. if you're planning on doing that in the near future then just run a water bottle next to radiator and tuck it away, hidden shitty one is better than stock one. then relocate fusebox and do the 13 res :)
Na.. i dont half ass stuff.. I found this,
http://www.shopzilla.com/rd?t=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pegasusautoracing.com%2Fprod uctdetails.asp%3FRecId%3D193&mid=175273&cat_id=22000300&prod_id=718047996&pos=0&b_id=134&token_id=7Y&lg=0&bamt=c2fec4801cf73b20&ppr=82de66ee967f8f65&oid=718047996&atom=10682&sc=&bid_type=0 (http://www.shopzilla.com/rd?t=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pegasusautoracing.com%2Fprod uctdetails.asp%3FRecId%3D193&mid=175273&cat_id=22000300&prod_id=718047996&pos=0&b_id=134&token_id=7Y&lg=0&bamt=c2fec4801cf73b20&ppr=82de66ee967f8f65&oid=718047996&atom=10682&sc=&bid_type=0)
so i am just going to build my own.. I probably will still use the painless wiring kit too.. just trying to figure out where to put it, and how to keep all my factory options.

you guys do know that gravity plays a very very small part in the coolant res. job?
Just putting the hose into a water bottle will possibly expose leaks elsewhere such as the bleeder bolt's washer when fighting against gravity when pressure forces coolant back into the radiator.
IMO heat cracks the plastic overflow, so why not build a shroud. a square of aluminum to become a heat shield will do wonders.

yep, thats why those bleeder bolts have crush washers. thats why hoses have clamps. anything else?

a bottle and oem tank look like shit. I dont paint my valve and timing cover for no reason, I didnt polish, and paint the intake mani cause i was bored. I didnt clean and repaint my engine bay because i wanted to be cool. I want my shit to look good. If for no other reason than the simple knowledge that when i pop my hood i can stare and rub one out..

I want to rub one out with you... to your engine of course.

Just get a coolant swirl pot and paint your stock one.
the s14 one is small, compact and out of sight.

Im sorry, but those crush washers dont seal for shit. They might not visibly leak, but they DO let air in. Just remove your bleeder screw/washer and look at the surface. I doubt its smooth.
You need a sealing washer from home depot

iunno, underneath that washer on my coolant neck is smooth as a babies ass, just as it came from nissan. therefore it creates no issues nor do i lose coolant or gain air in my system. and i'm running a bottle :)

I just relocated my coolant res tank to my passenger side fender well, it was more of a thing just to get my stock resevoir out of the way while i do some work but i may try and keep it there, i havent done hard driving on it yet so we will see, but you cant see it unless you really try and look for it.
I know exactly what you mean when you say u like to have a nice engine bay.
Where can you order new crush washers for the bleeder bolt?
Let us know what you decide to do

anyone here have any info on how to hook up the A'pexi GT coolant tank? I've had one sitting around for awhile, but could never find any literature on how to hook it up so it works correctly.

Just put it where ya think it will work. Make sure its located approperate for your feed and return lines, and find holes that are already in body, then measure out make piece out of cardboard, take to metal shop and have bracketry welded on and test.. its not rocket science.
