Hey, Ok I am trying to put on the front sway bar on my 89 240sx and the first step of putting it back on I run into a problem. When I was trying to put on the new bushing brackets their are two places to connect it. You put a nut on a screw that is already connecting to the car. Next you take a screw and screw it into the car but the screw is too short and it wont screw in.
Its hard to explain so in short the the bracket that holds the swaybar on has one screw that wont go in the hole so has anyone else had this problem and how did you manage it?
I hope someone can understand that So thanks for the help
Just go buy new screws from the local hardwear store. Thats what I did. But your talking to a guy who used a hammer to install his sway bar so take it for what it's worth...

Installing ST Swaybars on my Z, it's a commonly known fact that the bracket bushings are a little too big. One way to fix the problem is to grind about 1/8" to 1/4" of material off the bottom of the bushing.

Hey thanks for the replys. So I might go out and buy new screws but dont know.
And with the grinding off of the bushings what would be better to grind off 1/8" or a 1/4"? Actually I guess ill try an 1/8 then just work it from there. Well thanks for the replies. I guess Ill try new screws first then grind it. Ill let ya know how it turns out for future reference to anyone else cuz I searched and couldnt find anything here. Thanks

Ok then I put the bars on last night. First I called up Suspension Techniques and they told me to just shave off some of the bushing until it is even with the bracket.
So I decided to try new bolts first then do that if i have to. So I went out to get some new ones. The bolts that came with the bars were 30mm and the ones I bought were 35mm. It worked pretty well. One side went in almost right away. I also stacked three washers on the side with the bolt and one on the other side.
So I would say instead of shaving some off just go get new bolts. 2 bucks at home depot.
Well thanks for everyones help, the bars feel great nice and stiff.

ANOTHER QUESTION:
Should I go and get an alignment? The car is kinda shaky at high speeds. Is it recommended? I think I read it somewhere but I forget if it had to do with this. Thanks
It can never hurt to get an alignment, but the addition of sway bars should not have done anything to change alignment.
