KA24de shaking, runs crappy

Ok, so here's my story. My car has been having exhaust issues for awhile now. There was a leak but it never really did much to affect performance. I was driving home from work last week when the car's idle started to fluctuate slightly and the whole engine started to shake pretty bad. The exhaust note changed dramtically and I didn't have great power. There was also a really noticable gasoline smell that wasn't present before. I can only assume that it is running rich.

Now this all happened for about 15-20 minutes before everything went back to normal. I didn't start it up until the next day. It ran just as crappy as it was running before but this time it never went back to normal. I drove it for awhile and nothing changed.

Did some searching when I had a chance and decided to check a few things. One, I fixed the exhaust leak that was at the front of the cat. Another thing I noticed was that the hose that connects my throttle body to the CAI was busted up a bit. I took it off and did the best that I could to duct tape it with a good seal (quick fix). I unplugged the battery for a few minutes to see if that helped. I then started it up and it idled a bit better but the thing is shaking pretty bad with crappy power.

It drives ok and it even idles almost perfectly on the nose at 750rpm.

Plugs and wires are less than a year old. I will pull the wires when I get a chance to see if any injectors are shot.

One last thing, last night before I decided to call it a night I noticed that there was a leak coming from a metal tube that is connected on the last part of the manifold. It looks like it eventually goes somewhere behind the engine. Sorry for the shite explaination but I was tired as hell and can't think too well about it now. I'll try to figure out what it is.

So anyone have any advice? Ask me for any other info if I left something out.

Ok, went out during work and pulled the plug wires. When I pulled the wire for the second one from the front, the car didn't change it's idle like the other ones did. Also, and I have no idea why, the first plug wire keeps popping out a good bit but runs fine!??!!?

I'm assuming I have an issue with the injector. Any tips on cleaning or anything else?

isolate the problem to a single cylinder.

Pull out the spark plug wires one at a time.
If you notice the engine doesnt shake any different.
Then that cylinder is fucked.

From there, check the spark plug of that cylinder, injector of that cylinder, etc.

The metal tbe that goes behind the engine? I believe you're talking about the EGR tube (goes from the exhaust manifold to the Intake manifold). If that tube has a leak, you will have an intake leak and the engne will not run well at all. Unmetered air will enter the engine and can cause a lean condition. If its that tube, get it fixed. Its for the EGR system, important for fuel mileage, NOx emissions and cooling the combustion chamber. I'll reiterate if needed on the last sentence.

If that doesn't help, I would unplug the injectors (getting zapped by the ingnition wires doesn't feel good) one at a time to see if a change in idle occurs (as Addicted2kouki stated). If a change doesn't occur in a cylinder, make sure that it has spark (stick a screw driver in the spark wire and put the metal part of the screw driver near the valve cover and look for the spark to "jump" from the screwdriver to the vlave cover). If spark is there, check for fuel. I would take a screw driver and put it on the injetor and listen for a "tick". If the "tick" occurs, perform a compression test on that cylinder. Low compression on one cylinder can cause a shake, also known as a misfire.
