Hey there guys, thought I may as well post my build up thread here for you to see.
Now, where do I start?
After having some fun in my previous track hack.
http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/5116/37899908bb6.jpg
A little incident with the wall. I then decided it was time for a clean daily.
http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/4446/83509241bh6.jpg
I ended up trading my old bent S13 CA18DET (pulling my good parts off it) for this fairly clean CA18DE Manual Silvia.
http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/9498/14714259ki2.jpg
I pulled the Silvia front end of and got it ready for the 180sx front. At this point I had fitted Bomex mirrors, Bride Brix, Personal steering wheel etc.
http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/951/95400037jn7.jpg
After driving it around for two days I noticed a unpromising knock which resulted in a blown CA18DE. OH NOES! I looked high and low for a good condition CA18DE engine just to replace it to get it driving and registered in Victoria (previously rego'd in Tas). I had absolutely no luck finding a engine so after time went on I slowly picked up more and more parts for the car. It had now become a project and NOT a daily.
I ended up buying bulk parts while trying to work out what to do.
ASPEC Blastpipes, Bomex wing, type X skirts, Nismo rear pods, full S15 brake upgrade + 5 stud conversion, Cusco halfcage, Weds Kranze 18x9 -13 18x10 -17, Coilovers, Kouki x Hotroad bumper, Stage 21 FRP bonnet, Nardi deep corn, Supermade floormatts, Red bride trim (excuse the cat, she loves the expensive shit haha) + heaps heaps more.
http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/2495/62387081vk6.jpg
http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/7505/32507173yz5.jpg
http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/5589/14043334lw4.jpg
http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/3148/53507400dn2.jpg
http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/9946/15682885id1.jpg
http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/343/10ad4.jpg
While I was spre'n away with parts one of my old mates decided to write off his type x resulting in me buying his SR20DET engine / box combo for a decent price.
So, this is pretty much what it looks like now (Yes, the bumper is only resting there with zipties, it will be properly aligned after paint)
http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/1315/11gm9.jpg
http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/681/12xe9.jpg
Here is a small portion of the sticker collection and growing.
http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/1926/13lv4.jpg
Plans in the mix at the moment?
- Fit SR20DET combo
- V-mount kit
- Modify guards to fit wheels
- Catch can, water breather etc
- Finish body work
- Paint Mazda 3 gunmetal
- S14 S2 JDM wing
- Matching red Bride passenger
+ more more! Watch this space!

Sick, I want to do a 240 coupe pretty bad. An actual Onevia is way more bad ass though. The Hot Road bumper looks tits!!!

Are you going to leave the headlights all the way up like every single other one via out there?

I am still trying to figure out why you took apart a perfect clean Two Tone Silvia for the sake of putting on beat 180 fenders and a aftermarket 180sx bumper. Ugggggg you went from exactly how the car should look to a nasty Onevia. Sorry if I am being critical but I always scratched my had over the whole Onevia thing. We got stuck with those monstrosities stateside as a regular car. The lines are all wrong. Plus you had a nice clean Seafoam two tone!
LOL this coming from a person who is not even a fan of the coupes. LOL

looks like this is gonna be another one of those "mod list and pics" build thread
ehh i hope not
thats a bitchin platform to start with, and what looks like a bitchin budget
ugh +1 for keeping the silvia front tho 180 front goes to a 180

i will never understand the point of putting hundreds of stickers on a car advertising what parts you have on it... oh well, good luck with that build, pretty nice to get a ca18 s13 too.
oh wait you are un australia i guess that is commonplace lol.

...because some stickers are awesome.
Some are pretty shitty though. It just depends.

And guess he's from Australia so onevia conversion is kind of rare although I love the 2 tone silvias? your choice just keep the progress coming

+1. Pop-ups FTW.
Silvia's can be nice, but something about the onevia is really appealing.
Keep up the good work! Wish I saw cars like this when I was in Aus.

I agree the onevia looks best. I would keep it two-tone though.

Dave,
he is from Australia...silvias are common. The one-vias are not. Hence, like us in the US put the silvia front on to be different. There, one-via is different. ;)

After all the work you should have it repainted the original two tone. That'd be baller!
Love the Kranze's btw.
Good Luck with the build.

Headlights are actually getting fully wired up at the moment so yes, will go up and down.

Well, the fact that one of my headlights / parkers was cracked was a reason. Plus, the only headlights worth running on a Silvia are squares (or bricks, whatever) and in Australia they are WAY to popular and ultra expensive. I modify all my cars the way I want and ALWAYS wanted to build a onevia.

Thanks. Yeah, Australia sucks ass when it comes to cars. I have to admit it has gotten better recently.

Cheers bud. I would love to do it two tone but it does not suit the Kouki style bars.

no it is because the toilets flush in the opposite direction.
so, they do onevia instead of keeping it stock.
i think doing what you like to your car is kickass.
fuck what everyone else thinks.

granted I'm not a fan of doing conversions just to stand out.. but at least you went with OEM aero. I hate seeing cheap, $200 bumpers on "conversions"..

Are you familiar with Brendan Underwood's S13? Talk about the cleanest S13 ever, only reason I ask is because he's in Australia also, his car was featured in Fast Fours a while back. A pic to joggle your memory,

^^^ Both very, very nice cars. Makes me wish I had a coupe :P
By the way... Just to reassure myself I'm not completly retarted... Onevia = oneeighty (pop-up) front end on a Silvia (coupe) Body?

Hey mate, keep up the nice work on the car.
I am glad to see more Aussies, and Brits posting on the forum. A number of these yanks need to learn a lesson or two about commonalities in other countries.
As Lisa (S13SilviaGirl) pointed out the common thing here in the states is the one-via look and a number of blokes here have not quite caught on just yet.

And I am back! After weeks of non stop work I have finally sat down and put a bit of news for y'all.
Stumbled across some VERY CHEAP brand new front FRP fenders and decided to bite the bullet and go FRP fronts. I have just rested the fender there and haven't properly bolted it down but gives you a idea how the wheels will sit. Quiet happy with it to be honest.

Hooked up some original Cusco side bars that me friend had in his S14 and painted orange but will be soon painted white to suit my cage.
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/9620/29nc9.jpg
Also, scored a Apexi cross flow front mount kit which will help me to get a roadworthy and then upgrade to my v-mount kit.

Would like to give a big shout out to Damo from Midnight Mods for the sweet hook up on the short shifter and lightened pulley kit. For $85aud for the short shifter and $80aud for the the pulley kit you honestly can't complain.
http://sokudostyle.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/post27-1.jpg
Very simple fit, even the most unmechanical people would able to get down and install this. Feels so good! Fitted with my Greddy shift knob.

I haven't installed the pulley kit cause I have been hell sick but when I get some time I will take some photos of the install.
