So, some of you may know that I LOVE little knick knack bars going up, down, left, right, and diagonal in my car.

I've been looking for soem sweet bars for a while now since I don't like those plain ol' tiny Megan ones. (C pillar bar and whatnot)

So, I stumbled onto "GT Spec"
GTSPEC (http://www.gtspec.com/)

They make soem cool bars.
tower bars, C pillar bars, trunk bars, and whatnot.

So, I decided to get some. I got the C pillar bar, trunk bar, and lower bar for the toe links on the subframe.

Well, I have not installed them yet, but HOLY SHIT. These are AMAZING.
the bars are solid design and BEEFY.

The C pillar bar looks insane. I love it.

So, I just want to give a heads up to anybody who might be interested in this stuff. They also are painted in some crazy color. bluish/goldish pearl effect.

Sorry, I'm not usually TOO much of a dork about parts, but I am 300% impressed.

discuss.

Brian

I got them from Gt Spec directly.

The c pillar bar is badass.
all one piece. totally solid.

Do you have any of their parts?

But i like Ravspec a whole lot better

Just a little FYI and they make killer shit for Suby's

Those suck! IMO! Put those in and you can't even load tires in back for going to the track. I would never put a x brace in the back of my S13 it would take away the utility factor that makes having the fastback dope, besides it just looking better.

they started out with mainly suby parts.

the owners brother is big into 240s tho so more and more 2240 parts seem to be coming out.

only part i have used is the turbo manifold. good manifold made good power, but im top mount now,

STR in Japan makes a ton of that shit too. Back in the late 90s I bought a lot of stuff off YahooJP made by STR, most of it was very nice quality. They had this crazy cage for S13s that included a trunk bar, Cpillar bar, strut tower bar, and bars connecting each piece fore/aft to each other and to the front seats, all with adjustable ends for tension. I never could find a website listing everything but there's plenty of it still available on the Japan auctions.

S13 front strut bar looks pretty good . I'm running a TEIN bar right now. After changing from side feed injects to top feed injects using the JYG fuel rail the TEIN bar won't clear the JYG fuel rail . Had to drop some washers on the TEIN bar base. So I really would like to find a strut bar that clear the top feed Injrctors setup . I know it's hard unless some one here is running my setup .

I think you should pick up the Stealth Custom Fab rear STB. It's solid, as opposed to the GT spec ones, which have bolts.

Maybe Stealth Custom Fab could make copies of these.

They look really good though, I want some. I've always wondered how much that rear trunk bar would do. Looking forward to some feedback.

I'm pretty bummed on the current generation of 240 owners.

This goes for everything. Bars, kits, wheels, engine parts.

Hey, I run all of there bars, minus the rear strut tower bar. It didn't fit with my cage. I actually am an authorized GT Spec dealer, so if anybody needs anything, just let me know.

Oh, and the best thing about the strut bars is they apply positive pressure. A lot of the time you need to pry the bar into position, but when it's bolted in it helps keep the pressure onto the strut towers.

I'm really not a fan of copies of anything (see sig), but I'd rather support Jonnie is his fabrication endeavors, especially since he hooks us up with quality parts for less than everyone else.

I don't have any knockoff parts on my car besides the Jonnie Fraz/Stealth Custom Fab tension brace (SPL tension rods, tie rods, ends, Tein coilovers, ES sway bar bushings, (soon to have some FN's)). And I don't plan on adding any more unless they're from Jonnie or someone else on here that is making quality stuff themselves.

I don't know what any other differences might be with 1989-90.
If yours looks like this, it should be good to go.

Searching.

I have always liked C pillar bars

Back in the day, I wanted one from RASH FACTURE (which was a japanese company who sold pretty nice ones, but I could never seem to get one)

Then one day Megan racing started selling them and I got one of those.
It was dreadful to say the least.

Then Not TOO long ago I found out about Gt Spec and saw that they sold one that looks DAMN nice.

I got one, and am overly happy with it.

Okay, I'm going to do a write up for this.
An install guide. I feel like doing this with the new car I guess.

C Pillar bar.
This works for the 1991-1993 hatchbacks. They have a bracket on the C pillar that the bar bolts to. It is to my understanding that the 1989 and 1990 models do not have this specific bracket. The bar comes with 2 17mm bolts and 2 washers. The install is very straightforward. Remove the factory bolts that are there 914mm I believe). Put the bar up to the brackets and thread in the provided 17mm bolts. It will be much easier with 2 people, but it can be done with just 1. Tighten the bolts and you are done.
http://media.ziptied.com/members/files/2/1004081208.jpg
http://media.ziptied.com/members/files/2/1004081208a.jpg

Trunk Brace
This is a very simple install also. Remove the 4 14mm bolts that hold the rear bumper reinforcement in place. Put the Gt Spec bar in there and thread in the 4 provided 17mm bolts/washers. Tighten the bolts and you are done.
http://media.ziptied.com/members/files/2/0927081501.jpg

http://media.ziptied.com/members/files/2/0927081431.jpg

Rear Tower Bar.
If the end plates on the tower bar are tight, please loosen them up. There is an allen head bolt and a 17mm nut. Next, remove the 4 12mm nuts. (2 per side) on the rear suspension points. Place the Tower bar over These and then put the nuts back on and tighten them to spec. Then tighten the bolt and nut on the tower bar end pieces until tight.
img]http://media.ziptied.com/members/files/2/1004081208b.jpg[/img]

All 3 bars are very simple to install and can be done with just one person and hand tools.

I haven't driven it yet, but I bet my MONEY on the fact that it stiffens the car up.

Even when I put a stupid little Megan C pillar bar in my s14, it stopped creaking when I went up driveways, so, this is pillar bar is WAY bigger and the hatch is a much bigger open space...

Tower bar - Same thing with my old s14. I tried doing simple turns here and there with the bar in and the bar out. Seemed different.

Trunk brace - S15 comes with one from the Factory. It must be good for SOMETHING huh.

A cage would stiffen up the car too, but different parts of the car are going to move differently.

Yeah, my cheap-o c-pillar bar (it was given to me for free so don't hate) stiffened it up a noticeable amount.

So in essence, a shitload of bars is NOT useless, even with a cage(moreso a bolt in one)

sweet, looks like im buying some bars this winter.

Weird thing about c pillar bars, i have an ebay one, and my car is an 89, and it fits ... ill get pics tomorow.

I received my rear lower tie brace and c pillar bar a couple of days ago. I'm impressed on the size of the bars. I now regret not buying the truck floor brace. I finished installing them. It only takes minutes.

Also, GT Spec has metal badges on their bars...damn they're proud of their products...rightly so!

A buddy of mine has the Megan C pillar bar ooooooh when he sees my GT Spec bars he is gonna punch me in tha face for sure and wish lighting strikes me twice.

Thanks Brian for this thread!!!!!

Looks nice.
No rear seat brackets looks clean but they are kinda tricky to remove unless you got a spot weld remover and a drill or something.

I tried with a hammer and a chisel at one point and it was looking something horrible. Aggghh.

You can do a cage and the bars.
There shouldn't be anything preventing you fron doing both.
They don't interfere with eachother.

bump.

I'm going to get the front tower bar next week or so.
This will complete the whole package.

So far while driving around the streets and whatnot the car seems pretty solid. When I go up driveways the whole car is pretty stiff. Doesn't seem like there is creaking and stuff from the rear.
good good.

I finally got to drift my car with these bars yesterday

AWESOME.

As we know, s13 hatch is just a HUGE open space.

The car felt super solid with the rear tower bar, C pillar bar, trunk bar. It felt just like my s14, but a little better. No body roll, no creaking, no tipping over.

Totally impressed with them.

The last part to my puzzle.

I've been having turn in issues with the car the last time I drifted it. Now that I think about it, it might because I had no front tower bar on the car.

THIS BADBOY should fix that.

Pretty sweet looking stuff. I'm just iffy about STB's with pivot joints like that. I prefer 1 solid piece unit. Just think its stronger overall, but I will admit if I am completely wrong.

you make a valid point. i like how most of gt specs other bars are solid with no joints, they should follow suite on the struts as well, imho.
stealth custom fabrication makes solid STBs if thats more your thing.

not to steal any of gt specs well deserved thunder, i will be purchasing there full lineup of hatchback braces.

Brian
03-25-2009, 08:55 AM
I can agree that a solid bar could be better than a jointed bar, but I honestly do NOT think that these will flex more because of the joint. They are pretty solid and they WORK.

any reviews on their BC coils? say for example compared to Stance GR+ Pro, PBM, etc, looking into getting some coils, like i stated earlier, i am interested in their combo kit, but i think RavSpec being in NY, the tax is gonna kill me. thanks for the input.

Agreed......solid would be the more ideal route...but you pair these with the under braces etc you will recieve the desired results :2f2f:

As for the BC Racing coilovers -

http://zilvia.net/f/chat/183294-bc-racing-coilover.html

BC Racing BR-Type Coilovers - TeamFC3S (http://forum.teamfc3s.org/showthread.php?t=55531)

As for the GT Spec stuff -

I am parting out my track car, so all of my GT Spec stuff is up for sale. (Pics this weekend when I get to my parents.) I also have a set of BC Racing coilovers for sale in a 12/10 spring-rate setup. They have about 200 miles and 10-12 events on them.

I have a new lower tie bar (S13), used front strut tower bar (S13), new c-pillar bar (S13), and a used trunk bar (S13). The front STB has a couple scratches, but nothing wrong with it. The trunk bar has a couple marks from wheels are tires being placed in the hatch.

Also, the front STBs are amazing, even with the fact that they aren't one piece. One piece bars suck, since they are not adjustable and leave some "slop". The GT Spec unit uses positive pressure to keep everything tight. You basically will need to use a pry-bar to push the bar over slightly to get the bolt to go through. That way everything is pushed apart slightly, keeping pressure on the strut towers.
