1993 SE coupe... KA

I'm tires of my speedo, odo, and dash lights not working, so I've found a place willing to let me pull an analog cluster from another 240. I know I need to pull the wiring sub-harness out as well, but I was wondering, perhaps from someone else who has done this, how much of the harness is needed? All the way to the main harness on the passenger side? Also, I am going to see about getting a digi cam so that I can document this, and get it posted somewhere. I am hoping to get the cluster tomorrow or saturday, so any immediate info/tips would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

if your putting a digital one in you car and it was the regular odo. you need the wiring behind the dash its a ****ing wireing nightmare to get it out of the digital dash car. ive tried. my advise dont try it. unless you real good and electronics. not worth the agravation. but good luck with it.

I am going FROM a digital TO analog.... looking at wiring/routing of harness in the FSM, seems pretty uncomplicated..... any one else?

I haven't done it yet, but I've been told that you just need to remove the harness with two connectors that are behind the cluster once you remove that. then you plug those two connectors into your dash harness. sounds simple can't wait to do it, even though I love the digital dash in the summer, it's the winter that sucks.

How come it's a Seasonal Love/hate deal?

because my car isn't that bad yet and it only doesn't work in the winter. I'd say right now, if the temp is above 50 or so then it's fine. If I end up driving it in the winter more, I might just do analog in the winter and digital in the summer. I really like the tach in the center.
and I'm a sucker for digital readouts, I don't like analog clocks either, I swear it takes longer to read and I'm just not up for purposefull unconvenience.

If you really do prefer the digital dash, why not just get the cluster fixed? Mine had the same problem (cold solder joints, stops working when the cluster is cold), took it to a car electronics & speedo shop and they replaced one of the circuit boards, now it works perfectly. Cost about $200 but the replacement is supposed to be good for life.

Just seems like a better solution than swapping clusters twice a year, plus trying to keep the odo accurate on whichever one is in...
