oil under my car

Hey I have a quick question. I was bored so I jacked up my car to see if I could find the speed sensor and what I found was the area I guess like right around where the headers meet the exhaust I guess there looks to be a bunch of oil (at least it looks like oil) on some parts. Actually now that I think of it maybe it is the trannmission that the oil is on. Could this be something bad that I should get checked out? Maybe an oil leak? I hope it is not. Thanks

Do you see it covering the oil pan? Oil leaks will usually give you black **** that gets all over everything. If you see it on the underside of the oilpan, it's likely a front main seal leak, behind that ad it's hard to say. Could be a rear main seal leak or leaking transmission fluid. . .
