Not sure, go there and ask them?? theres the altadena CHP that signs off. Go to the DMV?

You really just got to make sure cars are legit before you buy em.

Especially in CA, its kinda shitty here.
You may want to trade back till HE cleans up his mess.

do u think that i can junk title it and put everything i got into another shell cuz it has an s14 sr in it coilovers rims the whole shabang.

You could get a shell, put all the shit in and just say,
"I dont want this fucking s13 with these tickets, come get it" lol.

If your not gonna drive it on the street, and your gonna transfer everything to a shell. Fuck registration.
Leave it in his name. and drop the shell in the street when your done stripping it !! his problem and bill then! (it could come back to you of course.)

Just buy a shell that has recently passed smog and stuff so you dont put a SR in and then not be able to get it registered. Or find a smog shop that will pass it.

Is it for street or track??

TurboStrong

it for street.

so its better to junk title it and just transfer everything to another shell cuz i got everything to make it a really nice car.

ericcastro
08-25-2008, 03:26 PM
Your gonna have to possiably pass smog if you get another shell. make sure you really know what your doing before you attempt it.
You got screwed trading the car. And now you wanna junk one tittle, which is unreversable (im pretty sure), put an illegal engine in a shell, then try and license it??

Sounds silly.

just have the guy take care of his fucking tickets?? easy. Or trade back till its done.

TurboStrong

well i traded this guy a bone stock s14 salvage title and he gave me a clean title s13 with an s14 sr coilovers sway bars quick realease rims exhust everything and i really dont want to trade back.he said its okay if i wanted to trade back but this thing got a sr.hahah

i know a place where u can smog an sr and pass.

would that make it easyer.

and the thing is the guy has no monney to pay off any tickets.

ericcastro
08-25-2008, 03:32 PM
Yeah, probably. If they can pass it for you.

I would go to the DMV and ask them if theres any way that you can register the car and leave the tickets with that dude.
Go there and explain what happened, and see if they can help you at all??

TurboStrong
08-25-2008, 03:34 PM

Under these circumstances your best bet is to go to the court that they assigned you to and tell them about your situation. Normally the dmv would handle that sort of problem but because of the recent california budget cuts the ppl at the dmv arent sure. plus if your lucky you COULD get those thrown out by the judge. If anything he should've taken care of this b4 he sold you the car whether he has money or not.

TurboStrong
08-25-2008, 03:40 PM
but the tickets are under his name not mine the car is still under his name but i got all the paper work.

can i just go to the dmv and try to register it?

xtheenderx
08-25-2008, 03:43 PM
u can try going to the dmv but you mite just get the same response he did. like i said before call or go to the court and find out for sure

TurboStrong
08-25-2008, 03:45 PM
so do i just go to court on the date they asigned him and what do i do?
sorry im really lost im not good with all of this im only 16 and i got to handle all of this by myself!

xtheenderx
08-25-2008, 03:51 PM
lol dont worry, i've been there. i'd recommend either you ro him calling them asap before the court date just to be on the safe side. they should have automated services and they'll direct you to the traffic division and ask to speak with a representative or press 0 in most cases. from there tell them about your situation. if needed, tell the guy you bought the car from to ask for an extension in case there are other things you need to take care that mite require more time. Dont wait for him to make the call, make sure you call them too to find out how to handle it from there

TurboStrong
08-25-2008, 03:56 PM
wow that was confusing hahah!

so i call and tell them my situation and they will tell me what to do?

what number do i call?

im very sorry im not the smartest person as u can tell by my situation.haha

xtheenderx
08-25-2008, 03:59 PM
LOL yes call them and tell them your situation. You said you had the paperwork, correct? If so, they should have the phone number on there to which court the paperwork for that ticket was sent to by the police or chp that issued the ticket. check the back if anything i'm sure they will have it

TurboStrong
08-25-2008, 04:06 PM
but the thing i dont have the ticket.

im pretty chill with the guy that i traded with and i knew about the tickets on it but i thought it would clear once transfered?lame...
so do i ask him for the number or just for the ticket?
cuz this whole ticket is under his name and now they want him to go to chp and show them the car to see if it has been unmodified but they are ganna see th sr in it.

xtheenderx
08-25-2008, 04:09 PM
ask him for the number and tell him to do wat i just told you to do. as for the SR, cross your fingers and hope that chp doesnt know wat it is. btw i dont think chp handles checkups anymore it has to be through ref, but reff doesnt exist anymore

TurboStrong
08-25-2008, 04:11 PM
no but im saying can i just pay it off with out going to chp or is it better to slap on a junk title and transfer everything?

what would u do?

i really dont wanna get fined or pay a lot of money.haha

TurboStrong
08-25-2008, 04:12 PM
if i go to chp especially in california they will know what a sr20 is.fow show

xtheenderx
08-25-2008, 04:14 PM
actually i'm not even sure wat i'd do. if you can transfer everything to a shell and avoid this whole situation then be my guest. besides you shouldnt be the one paying for the tickets in the first place. He got it while he had the car so it should be on him

TurboStrong
08-25-2008, 04:18 PM
true true.

well just junk title it then?
and avoid all problems?

and thanks man this really means a lot to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would try and get it cleared up.

Junking the tittle and buying another shell,
transferring an engine and other parts,
then trying to register that car......
If your having a hard time with trying to make a couple phone calls to figure this out.
Your fucked when you try and transfer the parts and engine over.

If you cant pay his tickets, you dont have the money in the bank to cover the extra expenses that come along with swaping car parts and such.

Are you sure its even an S14 SR?? I kinda doubt it.

But anyways,

Call the Burbank courthouse, cause the girl there is helpful, and they get alot less calls than LA county. (BTW, use google, type in LA county Courthouse, go from there.) So you should get to talk to her personally. Tell her you bought a car and it has tickets on it. See if she can tell you the court the tickets are in??

Most likely though, you wont get any info because its not under your name. So HE needs to contact the courts to figure out the date.

In the meantime, I wuold take all the paper work to DMV and ask them. Explain it to them.
Its still open for an hour, get off your but and go now. By 5pm tonight, you could have a car in your name. if not, you should have the info you need to make it work by the end of the week.

BTW, the amount of time you have spent on th internet trying to get other people to do your footwork, well, you could have used google and searched out all the laws for your self. phrases like "car tittle transfers", "CA car registration", "CA buying car with tickets", "CA buyers rights registration car".

Or just gone to the damn DMV yourself hours ago and asked em.

This is remedied simply and easily, all of those items are sign offs.
Now the thing is regardless of guy selling the car to you he still has to go to court on them. He cannot get out of that.
Nor will the judge let him off the fines, just because he traded, sold, junked, lost or got the car stolen. If he does not go to court he will get a warrant for his arrest issued for failure to appear.
I suggested you call him and tell him this.

Tell him that he needs to take care of this stuff and no you do not want to trade the car back. You want him to do the right thing for your sake as well as his. (if you got the balls for telling him this lol). If he is reasonable he will understand and take care of it.

If not? Well then you either pay his fines for him so you can register the car or you find another chassis and swap parts.
