Well as some of you may know i have just gotten a '89 fastback(o yea by the Way my name is Ed) and the rear hatch doesn't defrost. Is there anyway of fixing this?
Another problem is that the odometer on my car isn't working...the guy before said that it stopped about 150 miles ago
The MPH guage goes crazy when i accelerate...like today it jumped to 115mph when i was going about 35mph
And one more thing...My rear windshield wiper doesn't work...any way of fixing this?
Any kind of help is appreciated!

I don't know about the other problems. But did you check your fuses for the defroster and wiper?

Did the previous owner recently do tint on the back window? That screwed up my desfrosters.

Well i didn't check the fuses yet but i guess its worth a shot...Yea the previous owner did tint the window...I plan on retinting them because theres bubbles everywhere...but could this have caused the rear defroster from not working?

Not sure about the odometer and speedo, but I had a similar problem on my 89 with the rear wiper/defrost.

Basically check the fuses, if they are all good, open up the hatch and check the wiries that go into the hatch from the base of the car (near the corners) You will have to pull out this rubber insulation around them. My hatch had cut all the wires on the right hand side I guess from too much opening/closing. They had all shorted together and thus nothing worked.

If those are still all good, check the other side. If still no luck, check the motors/switches and look for any shorts. If you replace a fuse and it blows again then you have a short.

If all these check out good, then I am not sure.

good luck,

Kerv

Check your speedo pinion. It's near the rear of the tranny, secured in by a small bolt.
