Just put in some solid mounts. The car seems to struggle a bit in the mid range.

The tach now seems to fluctuate around 2-3k rpms. It flutters about 500-1000rpms starting @ 2k rpm.

Could it be a loose ground, or more likely the cluster being vibrated so bad it shakes the tach needle? thanks fellahs!:hs:

its an auto tranny, could this be the trans slipping? I assume solid MM's arent too healthy for an auto trans?

Bump now all the gauges are fluttering.

Solid motor mounts tend to break stuff?

I've got solid mounts on my DD S14 SR but the tach only fluctuates at 2-3k on the highway. Not so much on the streets. They do tend to loosen or break things because of all the vibrations. I think your right about the solid mounts not being too friendly with an auto trans though.

Yea seems the needles only bounce around @ 2-3 on the highway, or hell even in park.

The trans slipping seemed to get better after I added some lubegard red. You think its a loose ground? or just the cluster beeing vibrated.

mines at 3-3500. manual and solid motor and tranns mounts.
dont know why, when on dyno and computer, the read out from them doesnt show any fluxuation.
sooooo i guess its cool.

I think its the cluster being vibrated but it wouldn't hurt to check all your grounds and maybe cluster connections in the back.

I was out running errands today and I paid closer attention to the tach than usual. I noticed if I accelerated slowly above 3k on the streets, it would start to freak out. But if I WOT pass 3k to 4k, it would just climb normally.

I haven't really revved it pass 3k in neutral in a long time, so if I get a chance i'll give that a try and let you know.
