Why don't you whip out the handy calculator?
Number of years to pay and total cost (including interest) are all you need to calculate your monthly payment.
All the major ins companies will give you quotes online too.
If you have to ask, you can't afford it. Don't be an idiot and get yourself in to a car payment at your age.

Insurance for anyone under 25 is expensive... ;)
I was quoted if I were to buy a 23k 2006 S2000 the day I turn 21 next month and it came out to $200 something... with a clean record. I decided paying that kind of money with the car payment wasn't worth it.

If you can't afford the insurance, how are you gonna pay for the body kit and all the other little temptations that are going to crop up when you get the car? One word: Evo. You won't even look back. And if it has to be a Nissan, go finance a new SE-R. 350Z project= money pit from hell. :keke:
If you have a 350Z, how much is insurance? I would end up putting the car under my parents so insurance wont be sky rocket. I am thinking about one but it depends. How much would insurance and monthly payments on a used Nissan 350Z be? Like a 2004 Nissan 350Z or so. I talked to this one customer that came to my work and he had a 350Z M/T and he said that he was paying $1200 per year, $100 a month? Is this true? He was around young 30s. Help me out with info?

I just bought an 04 z33 this week. Insurance after military discount comes around to about 165 a month. I have decent credit and have already payed off a loan. Monthly payments came out to about $325 a month for 72 months with a 8. something % APR (I could have gotten a 7.16 apr but the 36 month payment plan put the monthly note too high). Thats considered really good seeing as how I'm only 20, but with more age and better credit I could have gotten a better deal.
Without being in the military I definetly wouldnt be able to afford this car though. Couldnt even think about buying parts for it...

im 18, with a clean record, and 6 months insurance for my 240 was around 600$, for MINIMUM.
i've also got a ROTH IRA account with about 1k in it, and a bunch of other financial stuff. lulzzz

my insurance went down 10$ per month when i switch to 03 z33 it form my 97 S14...then it went back up when it got old and i got another Kouki. roughly 140. i was an 23 unmarried male at that time.
240s are old cars and considered not as safe and advanced as the Z or other new cars so you will end up paying more for older car.

So many things factor into how much your insurance you can't ask what someone else is paying for their 350z b/c everyone is going to have a different answer, your best bet is call your insurance agent and ask him for an estimate on a 04 350z. Not to dash your hopes but as an 18 year old male good luck finding cheap insurance on a Z, cheap insurance doesnt come till you're over 25 and married

I pay $225 a month for insurance on my 04 base 6 speed
depends on how responsible.. knowing you have a legal agreement and can't mess up
I know one thing people who do it correctly, gain a lot of credit specially at that age
but if your living at your parents.. you should probably wait

The following information is not so much for the people who are beyond help, but are those of you who still have hope left.
1. Each insurance application has over 100,000 pieces of data. Each person will have a different set of data and metadata
2. There are thousands of different types of line coverage available for car insurance.
3. Each company has their own unique algorithm for predicting risk and calculating premium.
Given the above information, how can anyone make any reasonable comparison of insurance premium from person to person? There are too many variables. Stop asking.
All drivers who drive the car should be listed. Each insurer has a different policy for treating unlisted drivers. Be very careful you know what your insurer's policy is.

jesus $200+/mo on insurance is insane no wonder young people are in so much debt they'd rather go into debt and drive a "cool" car then drive a beater and save for more important things. My goal at that age was moving the hell out of my parents house...a nice car only goes so far when you bring a chic back to your room in your parents basement

I don't mean to pick on you, but this is representative of other people.
it is under his parents insurance
What does this mean?
Insurance policies are written for the named insured. You can also list drivers on the policy. Listed drivers are covered when driving vehicles listed on the policy, but don't have privileges of the name insured.
Does your statement mean that the driver is listed but not named, or the driver is not listed at all?
I can put $1 million limits on a Civic and pay $10,000 a month in premium. How can you possibly compare premiums without knowing all the specific line coverage limits?

Kind of off topic here, but something people might think about. I have a customer who is in the industry, races and happened to pick up a Z that was beyond upside down. I didn't ask how much, but since the airbags were activated and windshield cracked from a minor front end accident, i can't imagine he payed more than 2 or 3 grand for it. Since we are turning it into a dedicated time attack car, it will never see the street. This is probably becoming more and more common in the present state of the economy. So if your plans are for a track only car, a financially distressed car owner is probably looking to unload their car just to spite the finance company. :keke:

More so with houses than cars lol. To the OP I do not think the guy you talked to was BSing. Fact is you said he was in his 30's. Your 18. Lots of people have pointed out in the thread that if your under 25 and male insurance is significantly more. He was telling you what it was for him, not for you.
Seriously realize that your a kid and the Insurance industry does not look lightly at kids with powerful sports cars.

You are also being quoted by your zip code, which gives the insurance company the population of vehicles in that zip code. Higher car population in your zip code also increases premiums.

I've got the hartford, and with my record (far from clean) the insurance for my bmw 325is, with full coverage +some, is only 75 bucks a month. I mean, it takes a few minutes to get a quote online, so why dont you check it out?
i think i went to www.insurance.com (http://www.insurance.com) and got a quote from them from like 6 different people. The Hartford was by far the cheapest. I also quoted a 95 z32, a 92 porsche, and a 94 m5, and a 06 z33. Lol. the 350 was going to cost me 2300 every 6 months to insure.
Take my advice, don't buy a car like that. Go find your self an older, idk, bmw or something. Insurance will be a shit ton cheaper.

Ok. You guys have it wrong. I dont have anything paid for me by my parents except housing. I am not spoiled. I worked my ass off for my S13 and I paid it all on my hard earned cash. I wasnt planning on my parents to pay for my insurance cause they wouldnt. I was planning on paying the insurance myself cept it would just be on their insurance. I am expected to pay for my car payment and insuranc eon my own. I pay for everything on my S13 right now. So for whoever that thought my parents was paying for insurance, theyre not. Besides that thanks for the info.

Not quite correct. Insurance companies use the Zip code where the vehicle is garaged to price the policy according to the regional market of the garage location.
You can garage 3 identical cars in 3 different Zip codes and get a different premium for each car.
it would just be on their insurance.
Again, what does this mean? Wil the vehicle be added to an existing policy with your parents as the named insureds and you be a listed driver? Will you not be listed at all? See above for explanation.
FYI, most insurance companies require all licensed drivers living at the same houshold, i.e. same mailing address, to be listed drivers regardless if they drive the cars or not.
full coverage +some
What does "full coverage" mean? Do you have every single line coverage option? Did you max out the limit on each line coverage? How about the total payout limit? Do you have $1 million or more of coverage?
Every insurer will have a different max limit. There is no such thing as "full coverage".

when you get over the age of 25 and look back, you will say HOLY FUCK I WAS A STUPID ASS FUCKING KID.
but, you are too young to realize this. you couldnt possibly comprehend any of the advice being handed to your dumb ass.
they say that ""Experience is the hardest kind of teacher. It gives you the test first and the lesson afterward."
go and buy the 350z, and learn your fucking lesson already. or be a child prodigy and stick with your S13.

As much coverage as they offer, because thats what the finance company wanted, gap insurance, blah blah. 1 mil meidcal, 500k porperty, 1 mil something else, roadside asst, rental, insurance for anyone not me driving...
I think I got it all. I checked every box i could find lol.
Anyhow, seriously, as nice as Z33's are, are you sure you want one? Just because you can afford it now, doesnt mean in 3 years you'll still be able to afford it.
Like my friend, lets call him Jeff, for example. He bought a 95 Impala SS for 9 grand fully restored, new 350, on a 4 year loan. A year ago, he afforded it with ease, and the insurance too. Hell, he could have afforded a 20,000 dollar car. But then his boss went and called him a n***er, and he quit. His mother passed away a month after that, and he got in a little trouble with the law. So guess what. They repo'd it. He now has a 600 dollar truck his job doing siding gave him, his credit's shot to shit, and he isn't in a good position at all.
When I was 15, I could have afforded a 5,000 dollar car. I bought a $2000 s13. Im glad I did too. I quit my job 6 months after I bought it, and was barely making the payments on it until I got a new job 3 months later.
You have to think into the future. Just because you can afford it now, even if you can afford it plus some, doesn't mean you should do it. You never know what curve ball life's going to throw at you. Keep that in mind.

I wasnt trying to buy it now. I was thinking about it as well as other cars cause Im only 18 and in college and have a crappy job so I dont really have much money to repair my S13 right now. Its starting to go bad and I need a daily driver right now. Its tough so I was thinking about getting a used car but alot newer year. Like a 2000 something. But it seems that itll be too much money. Im just worried that my S13 will fail on me one day unexpectedly. I was just thinking about couple cars but donno anymore. It seemed to come out to too much money that I can handle but I need to do something or my S13 right now wont survive. So thats why I was just asking people but they just started to get all criticizing and giving me bad rep and now my accounts about to be banned for asking questions and people saying things like Im depedning on my parents? Ive been working for everything I have and got so I dont have it the easy way like a lot of people so dont say Im spoiled or Im a child. Im young but not stupid. I dont rush into things without careful observation and thorough thinking. So please stop bad repping me cause all Im doing is asking questions.

I don't get people that dump a car when a few things go wrong then try to justify spending 10-20k on a newer used car thats its saving them money...even if it costs 1-2k to fix your 240 it will still save you money in the long run. I bought a new car in college I had no problem making payments but looking back now that was stupid b/c I was broke all the time and I'd have more money in the bank today if I just kept driving the car I had and fixed it.

Well I did not neg rep you. Though was I critical of your idea? Yes, but only for the sake of helping you out, to not make the wrong decision.
Now finally instead of just being all defensive, you admitted what a lot of us surmised. You don't have a lot of money, your job does not pay great and your in school. I.E. not in a good place to be buying a car like a 350Z and saddling yourself with expensive insurance costs and possible payments.
So, if you had not been so defensive out of the gate, perhaps explained your situation better, you might not have gotten those red squares and been ripped so hard. I am glad to see you came to your senses. Do not worry about the little caption soon to be banned hahahhahhaha. That's put their part as joke and part to shock the user into acting more responsibly. Usually people with that many red squares are douche bags.
Just don't post stupid shit, but read and learn, be careful not to ask to dumb questions and eventually you will post info yourself and you will climb back into the green. I have seen it before. Good luck and congrats on making the right decision.
