S13 Engine Temp Gauge Bug Out?

My engine temp gauge on the gauge cluster started to jump at around 2300 rpm. but higher around 3K rpm or lower at around 1700 rpm doesnt jump? What could the problem be?

could be a electrical gremlin

i'd guess loose wire at the temp sensor. the single wire one.

buy an aftermarket temp guage.
