I dont think there is a more timeless car than the 240Z. It's, I want to say, Japan's first REAL sportscar, or at least the first one that made it big in the states.

the Toyota 2000GT was japans first sportscar, but they made a grand total of only a few thousand...

I think the headlights look ugly and the rest looks like the old 240z with a gtr front end.

the 240z was the first japanese car to make it big in the states, not just the first sportscar...

and there were many japanese sports cars that predate the 2000gt... The Fairlady roadster was around since '59. Also the Honda S500, Mikasas roadster, and the Silvia all predate the 2000gt, just to name a few.

Loving the orange one more, been seeing it posted everywhere for awhile, the only thing that i would make differently is the rear side scoops in the back. that needs to be changed, dont really see a need for it. IMO.

shit - with this AMURRICAN MUSCLE retro trend, I hope this makes it.

stupid idea all around but oh my fuck, a revived 240z is genius.

old japanese men will reminisce about the old days and how gas was only 60 yen a litre.

I'm liking the 240z concept design. I would buy it if it ever comes out, Nissan needs to add more different paint choices though, for there car line-up.

Oh and I do like the Orange car that was posted also, looks yummy. I saw a 280z turbo the other day definitely had some work I heard the turbo spooling when I was behind him in my 240.

Oh and yes this was already posted by Zilviabot.

I don't understand why everyone sweating over the orange one. Headlights look terrible. Rear fender looks terrible in that 3/4 view, especially how it meets the greenhouse. Back end looks very sad. And the entire front end is just one gigantic grill opening. How much cooling do you really need?

The grey one looks pretty good to my eyes, only problem is that the body is a little too similar to the original. Cut off the front end and you wouldn't be able to tell that it is supposed to be a new design. Hood bulge needs to go to. I know the originals had them, doesn't mean this one should.

That's what everyone wants. cars that look just like the OG's. Look at the damn Challenger. same thing. Take the newish headlights and taillights off the car and you can barely tell if it's new or old. I think that shit is lame.

I do like the orange one better though. It needs some tweaking, but it reminds me of an old Z, but doesn't look just like one. The gray one has too much GTR in the front end for my liking.

Doesn't matter. There's a better chance that later on tonight, I'm going to have a 3-some with Beyonce and Jessica Alba and I'd be able to last more then 2 min, then anything even close to this ever being made by Nissan.

whats wrong with you guys, that thing is ugly as hell... Did you all click the link within the link to get more angles? ITS A DRIVING rectangle, that thing is soooo far from looking aerodynamic... or anything like a Z car.... its sad.

Looks like the Datsun XLink concept that was created by Benjamin Nawka at Nissan’s Yulon Design Center (see here) has given birth to a newly found interest for the long-gone Japanese brand. This modern interpretation of the iconic Datsun 240Z / Fairlady Z of the 1970s is the work of a Polish designer Jacek Kolodziejczyk who goes by the alias 'Iacoski.

It was designed by a polish guy, 'Iacoski,' not a Nissan designer.

Besides it looks too much like a GTR. I think the new Z is slowly getting there, as far as resemblance to the old one.

Well at least the RWD part is coming. I wouldn't hold my breath on a retro looking anything from Toyota. Especially since the FJ has done so poorly.

I see what you mean, but thats an SUV. SUV's arent doing too well these days, period. Especially one such as an FJ. They just don't appeal to too many people it seems.

But all these manfgr's are bringing back retro styling with the camaro, challanger, mustang (i know, they're american its different) but the old Celica was a cool car. Get that muscle car styling, with a powerful turbo 4 cylinder, and rwd. I think it'd sell good.

As far as the new Z goes. I love it. I think its gorgeous. But I don't see it happening, because Nissan's owned by the french. And the French hate us, and don't want us to be happy lol. jk. I just dont see it happening.

The problem with your plan is that the Camaro, Mustang, Challenger were THE cool cars to own back in the day. No one aspired to own a Celica back in 1973. Besides, very few (relatively) people actually bought those, so you lose out on all the nostalgia buyers who want to relive their youth.

i dont know why people are drooling all over that orange one. body lines are horrible, front end is ridiculous, and the back end is so limp looking, and the wheels dont even flow with the car.

now this, on the other hand,

tuche.

I guess I got ahead of myself with that... But at the same time, its Toyota. If people are looking forward to a HYUNDAI rwd coupe, then why not a toyota? And why not a toyota that looks good?

And... I suppose between the 1st gen camaro and the celica... I'd have to take the camaro.

please. God. no more retro styled shit. they aren't new classics, and chances are that in 40 years, people aren't gonna want to style their cars after cars that were styled after cars produced 40 years before that. why? because they'd rather have the 1969 camaro than the 2010 camaro.
