SO I have Brand new ka with new radiator that is stock and I am worried that I might overheat at my first Drift event. Is there any Thing I should like a water temp to make sure that I dont over heat. And Yeah I am still using the clutch fan. I have been pondering to upgrade to koyo rad and electric fans. But I don't want to waste the money ifI don't need to. Let me know what you guys think. :squint:

get an aftermarket thermo
get a temp gauge (not stock)
and make sure your clutch fan is in order and shroud complete
id still get a koyo or some aftermaket radiator
i dont like e-fans

have you had problems with overheating?
maybe you're just worrying too much
but koyo or pbm rad
and a breather / air separator tank
should be fine

Koyo Aluminum Rad
Billion Rad Hoses
Nismo Thermo
Dual E-Fan's
Nismo Rad Cap
Running Water/ Water Wetter
Mine never goes above 70* C
Even on Track Drift Days after 5-6 runs it still never hits 70*C

flex-a-lite dual 12" fans keep me cool at 170*F with a stock ka/rad
just make shure the coolant system is bleeded out good

i personally dont like E fans either. But if your cooling system is fine you shouldn't over heat, First thing is get an after market temp gauge, the stock ones are crap. And if you dont like the temps, get a thermo and everything else people already stated.

Not really wanting the efans myself either. And No I have not over ehated just noticed the engine bay is very hot and I hear hissing noise near the rad cap and res bubbles alot only when I smash on hot days. Looking into the temp guage and probably a new cap. You think I should get a thermo. Crappy stock gauge has never gone above the half mark or 3 centimeters to it. I might be woring about to much but norcal is fuckin hot and thunderhill will bake my shit ahaha. Thanks for the advice though.:jerkit:

i have an autometer in mine and it works great. the only thing about it is that the sending unit is to big to fit in the stock place so you would need to buy the buddy club sensor adapter so you get a correct reading. im using the stock sending unit and its about 25*f off so it reads higher

I am planning on scoring the pro sport temp gauge. HEy I have been thinking to fabricate a place for it below my radio in Din. but tried searching and couldn't come with any how too's. I guess I'll have to just pop open my console and see what I can do. Does any body have any Suggestions about were It would be good to place the gauge....?:coolugh: something hidden so haters wouldn't notice and try to take my shit. Also was thinking under the steering wheel to right in that specific corner, but their just stupid ideas gotta think hard:tweak:

the stock radiator is designed well enough to keep you safe. If you are truly concerned, what I would do is get a water temp gauge first and get used to how your car runs normally around town (temp ranges) and then go to the track, beat on it a bit, and see how it reacts. Go from there.
Honestly though, I think you'll be fine.

I run a rebuilt stock SOHC, clutch fan, FAN SHROUD !!. Cant even get the dummy dash gage over halfway.
If you are worried, pop the hood when your not on the track and run the heater the whole time.
But if you have fresh oil, and a filled radiator, you should be fine.
I drift mine in well over 100 degree desert weather here in CA. Just be carefull of doing donuts and figure 8's all day, the radiator doesnt get that much are passing through during that stuff.

..for a couple months in that condition from 562 - 714 (20-40 miles) daily! busted radiator, leaking coolant.. yah, i shouldn't have but i had no choice and she wouldn't have wanted it any other way!
coolant, distilled water, & water wetter should get you by!
