I have a 95 240SX SE and I've ran into a small problem that I can't figure out with the FSM. Basically, I can control my driver side window from the driver side and the pass side window from the pass side, but I can't control the pass side window from the driver side. When I press the pass window switch on the driver side, I get nothing. No noise, no clicks, nothing. Simple answer is it's probably a bad switch. The reason I'm having trouble figuring this out is the fact that it's a jury rigged wiring job from the previous owner. I have two seperate wiring harnesses coming into the door, but they are not plugged into anything. Instead, the previous owner cut the factory harness that plugs into the window controls/lock switch about 12" back and spliced that into the two harnesses coming into the door from the dash. I will get pics of this up later today. What my first major question is on this whole deal is, what are those two harnesses in the door supposed to plug into? Neither is the same plug as the window controls. Once I get some help on that, the window problem might get alot easier.

Sorry if it sounds like an incoherent post, but it's 1AM and I've had my nose in the FSM for most of the day with no results. Please, if someone can shoot a quick pic of what the in-door wiring looks like on the driver side, I would be much appreciative.

Until we see it, no one will really know what they did. Sounds like some janky shit though.

Ok,

I just took the door apart and snapped these shots. Sorry the focus is bad, my camera is crap.

Hate to be a pest, but I'm still waiting on an answer. Does anyone have a clue what those plugs go to?

Nice.

What someone has done, in the shittiest way possible, is to upgrade to a 96-98 main switch.

The 1995 main switch uses an external amplifier (one of the plugs left hanging) and switches through it, the 96-98 switch is all internal. 95 models usually have issues with the AUTO button breaking a spring and staying locked down, burning up the amp or motor. All they have done is bypassed the amp and connected the 96-98 plug to the harness. They could have just as easily swapped the entire door harness (it plugs right into the dash harness) but since most 96 models did not have the OE security you're left with adding in or repinning the harness for the wiring needed to arm/disarm the alarm and for the tamper switch in the key cylinder.

I would try and track down a clean 96-98 driver side door harness, complete, and swap it in. You can depin the security wiring from your 95 harness and add it. Alternatively you can find a clean 95 harness and main switch and plug it right in too.

Or lastly, DL a 96-98 FSM and understand the differences in the harnesses, you can then repair and correctly wire what you have and remove the excess clutter.
