I am in the process of building up my first sr (late model redtop) and I am curious as to how people delete the oil squirters. I image that they are just like a banjo style piece and they are plugged with some bolts and washers with a dab of some lock tite?? Thanks ahead of time Zilvia!

Why the hell would you want to delete them?

huh? why get rid of them? Nissan has them there for a reason. More oil flow to the head the better.

I think he means the ones in the block for the pistons.
you could unscrew them then find the appropriate threaded plugs for the holes, but the only reason I could see for doing this is for piston skirt clearance.

that's probably one of the things that keeps sr's running forever. deleting would them is stupid and should not be done. that's like taking the a/c out of a daily driver

I do mean the squirters for the pistons. From my extensive research, Nissan installed them for piston cooling more so than for lubrication. There are many built vehicles in town that have done the same mod, why you ask? better oil pressure. I ofcoarse plan on keeping the ones for the head but from my understanding it is a fair mod for better lubrication on the top end.
Any seasoned Nissan gurus that have heard of this feel free to chime in.

If you want more oil pressure shim the bypass valve.
I can't think of anything unless you are stroked to hell and need the clearance that you would want to do this. The piston cooling gains are to great.
I'm sure all the kool kids jump on any bandwagon they can. But, you won't hear shit from them down the road when they melt a piston. Nobody seems to admit their mistakes...

Well I was about to ask the same question "Why would you do this?". I understand that you were talking about the ones for squirting the undersides of the pistons and piston skirts, not the oiling tubes for the cams. But even still I wondered until I saw your reasoning. It does make sense that you could improve oil pressure around the entire engine by disabling the squirters. The NA DE's do not have them anyway. I know my FWD DET did. However you do know that the squirters have check valves that only allow opening under higher oil pressure right? Therefore they maintain pressure (or don't allow pressure bleed-off) at lower rpms.

DET's had them because of the higher cylinder temps than the NA. Deleting them is a stupid idea and should only be done if you are forged. Even then it's a stupid idea. Keep em' and shim the bypass valve...

I've only heard a word or two about this.. could someone elaborate a bit on shimming the bypass valve? And I am forged, hence the build not re-build..

if you want better oil pressurre buy a better oil pump dont start taking things off the car that were there for sheer function of the engine door pannels seat belts carpet yeah go ahead remove it jus remeber your removing oil from the pistons your call man sounds like a not smart move to me for oil pressure

Yea I got it keep the squirters ok but how do I go about upping the pressure? How to shim the bypass valve? I've searched and can't seem to find any info on it. A better oil pump, is there even any upgraded pumps to get for them other than just new o.e.m.?
