i recently went to the mechanic for an alignment and they said that in order for the alignment to be done i needed to get both rear strut rod bushings replaced. my question is, could there be another name for these bushings or did the mechanic try to pull a fast one on me?

maybe he meant FRONT strut rod bushings...because thats vital for aligning the front, and they always crap out.

wtf is a strut rod bushing? Only thing i can think of that would have anything to do with alighment is the top mount bushing but you still should be able to do alighment. The only thing on the strut shaft is a bumpstop but that also has nothing to do with alighment. For the rear on stock setup the strut assembly has nothing to do with alighment.

Strut rod bushing is the tension rod bushing. It is VITAL to have a good bushing here to dial in a correct alignment.

Most likely, everyone on here who hasn't replaced there oem tension rods have leaky bushings giving them whack caster #'s when they go in for alignments.
Check your tie-rods too!

Never heard the term strut rod used for the tension rod. When i hear strut i think of the shocks.
