View Full Version : rear view mirror problem
It happens when my car sits outside in the sun and warms up the inside of the car causing my mirror rubber thingy to become loose. I will begin driving the car look at my rear view mirror angled down looking at my rear seats.
it's rather annoying having to adjust the mirror every 3 seconds :bash:
anyone have this problem? or know how to fix it.. stupid I know

yeah my old s14 used to do that.
I jammed some gum and stuff in the "ball joint" part of the mirror to wedge it in place.
it sort of worked.

IDK how to fix it. I tried to disassemble it and it wouldn't go back together
Getting a new one from the junkyard is a nice solution. They let me have mine for free

Yep stick anything in there, or junkyard it. The sun warps the plastic, loosening the steadiness of the mirror position.

You're going to have to use real words, and some punctuation, if you'd like anyone to pay attention to what you're saying.

^^word^^
You could always use kite string and tie it to the head liner. LOL JK
Liek everyone else said, go to a junkyard or buy one off here. Luisgonz has one in his for sale thread.
OR upgrade and get a broadway mirror.

The Broadway mirror still needs your stock mirror to hook onto. It's like a hook/latch type system.

Nobody has mentioned tightening the small screw in the back of the mirror. Have you tried that yet?

does anybody know by some miraculous chance what size screw it is? i don't even have that screw on the back anymore and i've tried lots of screws and they were either too long or too short ... fail.

Ya, mine just started tilting down this summer. I lowered my car recently, so I guess thats why it's starting to drop everytime? I never noticed there was a screw, but I'll try tonight or tomorrow.

I ditched the OE mirror and installed a Mitto compass/auto dimming with temp display mirror on the windshield. Way nicer with more cool shit.

There should be a screw (not sure on the size) but if you wanna be ghetto about it, throw some sand in there. It's not like you'll be adjusting your mirror enough times to notice.

I hate rear view mirrors. always remove and throw away. leaves nice clean windshield w/ nothing blocking my view.

well va state law states as long as you have 2 outside mirrors you can tint your back window pretty dark and if i can tint "black out" my rear window then why do i need to have a rear view mirror?
I've argued that one w/ cops before. they go read the code book, come back and tell me i have a valid point. lol then i get a ticket for ride hight and exhuast
