View Full Version : Stress marks in fenderwalls

just a question if this is a big problem or not. i was under my car and noticed on both sides in the front, inside the fenderwells theres some cracks or stress marks that to me could case a potential problem. anybdoy can let me know. it seems soft but my friend said it could the the stuff they put on the fenderwells so it wont rust up. il try to get pics but anybody know, can help me out. thanks!

That is a typical problem on 240's, cracks in the fenderwells and strut towers. If they are cracks then weld em up. If you find significant rust though then you have more major problems.

is the car on coilovers? spring rates if so?

I've personally seen strut towers ripped off the body because the coils were so stiff.

see if it scrapes off in a small spot

if so its prob. undercoating

To me it looks like a bondo repair job done in the past perhaps, do you know the history of the car?

Looks like it.

A stock fender shouldn't look that nasty underneath.

It looks like the under coating just cracked a little. My car did the same thing.

to me it looks like body filler or some cheap seam sealer that was spreaded all over to cover up crap.
