Ok, I really didn't want to make a thread about this, because I know it's covered somewhere, but I fail at life hardcore and can't find it.
I'm looking at tucking my engine harness and brake lines, but haven't been able to find any good write-ups on how to do it. I'm not the most electrical inclined person you'll meet, so I wanted something with alot of detail and almost step-by-step instructions. If someone has a link, or even pics of their own adventure, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Again, sorry for making a new thread about it.

What do you want to do with your brake lines?

Hide them. I've seen it done in a few cars, and it really cleans the look up.

^not worth it for the work. Have you ever had to bend or flair brake line before? Wiring won't be any easier, but at least if you f up the wiring you'll still be able to stop when you press the brake pedal.
I've done both wiring and brake lines before and neither is worth it to make your engine bay look clean, if the car runs and drives that's enough for me.

somewhere, maybe on 240sxforums.com, there was an entire write up about what wires you need and what ones you didnt.
Some dude rewired his car with the stock wires, and ended up losing 40lbs of wieght from his car.
But also stated its a pain in the rear and was more just the challenge to see if he could do it, iirc.

somepeople put the brake master and clutch master and all that on the inside of the firewall like inside the dash, the fusebox/relaybox could be relocated to the inside of the car like the back or inside glove comparment(-->lol), wire tucking goes well that i bet you can find a writeup or explanation around here somewhere...
good luck it isnt any easy to do any of this but if u want something u have to work for it...
heres a pic of a engne bay (dont know if its from somebody here i cant remember where i got it from... uploaded it to help the OP) and yeah the engine is running... the owner had said about putting everything on the inside of the firewall inside the dash if im not mistaken...

That writeup would not be useful to everyone because each person wants different options on the car. If you don't mind copying his setup then it's ok as a guide.

That would be I. I tried to keep all the exterior lights, the gauges, and the defrost for inspection. Everything else was removed.

I agree. It's doable, but I do not recommend it to the average person. Only do it if you have the patience, perseverance, and electronic wherewithal to do a custom harness.

The easiest way is to use interior mounted master cylinders and use braided lines.
Hardlines can be used but will be harder to bend.

Tucking your brake lines is potentially a VERY bad idea, especially if you actually intend to drive your car. Routing them down to the x-member, like somebody else suggested in this thread, is undeniably stupid. Running your brake lines that close to your exhaust is just asking for problems. The best solution for the brake lines is to run them through the firewall and under the dash. IMO tucking wiring and lines/hoses is not worth it. You almost always end up sacrificing function to make it look pretty, which I am personally not OK with. On top of that it is a ton of work, especially to do it right.

ive been driving my car with the brake lines rerouted along the x member for 3 years. 0 problems.

^how often do you change your brake fluid?
I'm not jumping on the boat to a clean engine bay, but I would like to point out that the brake mastery cylinder is directly beside your turbo in most cases (if you are turbo), which would make routing your lines an ok idea. But still too much work for a look.

PM me on DriftWest.
I'm currently working on my wiring(painless chassis harness/simplified engine harness with d-jetro) and learning a few things along the way. I should be able to help you out with some stuff.
What are you doing to the car? Is it track only?... or are you keeping everything(a/c, heat, etc.)?
Ps. I'm the douche JVD240 on DW.

It will be in a few shows when it's done. But I also intend on driving it. It will be my summer DD. the brake line idea was only an after thought. If it's as big a pain in the ass as everyone says it is, I don't want to do it. I already have to make my own hardlines (ABS Delete) so I thought I could try to hide them.
Visible brakes lines are very minor.
As for tucking the harness, it's a must. I have OCD or something and cannot STAND the look of visible wires, I just hate it. No matter the pain, I'm going to do that at least.
JVD & Kinzer: PM's will be sent. Thanks.

Your car is an s-13 right? If so I have some non-ABS front brake lines, you just need to find the rear line or make your own. Those little clips that hold the brakelines to the firewall are not available from the dealer anymore though, so making the stock lines look as clean as they should will be difficult.

I doubt your hardlines are for a RHD 180SX. Thanks for lookout though. And I have the the little clips that hold them to the firewall.

I just finished wire tucking my motor... pul harness.. strip completely... run everything inside the intake manifold and the power wires through the pass side fender to the fuse box. brake lines is a little over the top for stock pedal assembly etc

That's because electrical work is already expensive. Doing custom electrical work on top of that would be very expensive.

I've got a clear hood.
Isn't that what the cool kids do?
I never asked for your opinion, just for some direction. Keep it to yourself if you don't like the direction I'm taking my car in. After all it is MY car, not yours.

Wire tucks and what not are custom.
There is no ONE way to do it.
Best way is to just go out and do it.
First thing you should do is undo your harness and cut out all the fat and route it through the intake manifold.
This will take many hours to do.
Stop crying online and expecting someone to hold your hand and do it.

finding a write up on something like this would be useless really, there is more than one way to do this. There has to be more than 3 different ways to route the brake lines, and just as many different ways to re-route the wires. Wires would be easier, but more time consuming than the brake lines I would like to think. Personally I'm not trying to shoot down your dream, but if this is your only car and you've never bent or flared brake lines then you screwed. I'd guess this might take a few weekends of work to knock out. Maybe 6 hours on the wiring (to do it right) and another 4 on the brake line? Maybe I'm exaggerating?
