Up for sale is my 1973 Datsun 240z. The motor is a 3.1 liter stroker motor, built with an early E-31 head, LD28 (diesel maxima) crank, and a performance cam. I am told by the owner who bought this engine before me that it was originally built by Seattle Z racing. He recently had the car restored and the engine completely gone through by Huntsville Engine in Huntsville. Huntsville Engine is known very well in the drag racing world nationwide. The engine had less than 100 miles on it when pulled for a v8 swap, however, I do not have any reciepts for this engine. But, before the 3.1 motor was swapped in, the z had an L28 in it, and this stroker motor puts out twice as much power as the L28. When doing the swap I bought a NOS 280zx distributor, E12 80 model. The triple webers are 40 DCOE. New chrome air horns (velocity stacks) and filters from CBPerfomance. Motorsport Auto 6-1 tuned header with full 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust into a cherry bomb muffler. New 280z large core radiator, MSA 8.0 mm spark plug wires, fuel pump.. etc. The motor has less than 2,000 miles on it, and is very very reliable. I drove the car down to Southwest FL from Jacksonville for the weekend and had no problems. I have driven this car to and from Daytona Beach twice a week to go to school for the past three weeks and also had no problems. I wouldn't hesitate to get in it tomorrow and drive it to California.
New polyeurethane bushings, Tokico springs. The car will probably need new rear shocks at some point. I also have a larger sway bar for the car, which you can no longer buy, not installed but I will include in the auction. The interior of the car is all original. It has several cracks on the dash (typical in the early z's). Headliner, seats, door panels are all in excellent shape. The only pieces missing are the rear driver's side interior plastic speaker cover, and the steering column cover. I have the original radio for the car, which I can also include in the auction. The car currently has a cd player, 2 Pioneer 6" round speakers cut into the hardboard in front of the doors, as to not mess up the door panels (see pictures) and 2 8" Bazooka tubes wired into an amp. I was debating on whether or not to remove the stereo (amp and bazooka tubes) for the auction but I'll leave that up to the buyer. Also, the car has a new electrical box, that cures the wiring issues known in the early 240's. The windows and door locks work.
The paint is about a 7 out of 10. It has a scratch across the hood, see pictures. I am not sure where it came from. I was originally planning on painting the hood black anyhow so it didn't bother too much. There also some other inperfections, a small scratch on the passenger side door. There also some bumps on the passenger side right behind the front wheel and in front of the rear wheel. I appears to be bondo that to raised up and where the paint has flaked a little, not rust.
