maybe this is a dumb question, but its one worth asking.
do you need to swap out the gauge cluster when you drop in an SR?
the redline is different and the speedo goes higher, so....
thanks

You need not swap the entire cluster in any case, but in some cases the tach by itself may need to be swapped.
The tachs used in '89-'90 (SOHC) 240SXs aren't compatible. Any DOHC 240SX tach, '91-'98, will work with an SR, and read correctly. The SR's rev limiter is still below the 8000rpm limit of our tachs.
The JDM speedometers don't read any higher. 180km/h = 113mph. The 240SX speedometer will work normally with an SR.

thanks man. I could have sworn i saw a speedo with a higher range than that tho, and not in km/ph. it was like 140 mph. but it could have been something custom fab'ed

yeah theres a shop LS automotive that sells a 140mph speedo for S13s.

but no swapping is needed. you'll hit the speed limiter before you can bury the needle

I will say I dont agree with the DOHC tach reading correct RPM. In my sr abd tahsi's s15 they were both off by at least 200-400 and even more the higher r's you push. I go by my AVC-R .

I have a '90 240 and sm planning to do a s13/14 swap into it. I was just wondering if the jdm cluster I get w/ the clip will hook up and read correctly or will I have to find another one or do some rewireing?
