Does anyone know, or could someone try to find out for me about how much it would cost to rebuild the SOHC 12V KA24E?? Trying to decide between a few options. Anyone who can help it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

best thing to do is call automotive shops. shouldn't cost much than $1500 for the factory spec rebuild. with the upgraded piston heads and rods and cam, plan on spending $2500(+) it's what i plan on doing, this low compression pistons have go to go. i'm putting in 10.5 compression pistons and all of the above stuff, then adding nitrous, then a new body kit and paint, wheels and an expensive stereo, and if i find out i still think my car is good enough, i'll install a turbo (and 8.5 compression pistons)

Take my advice. I rebuilt my KA24DE for turbo, ad it costed me over $2000 from a machine shop. That didn't include collecting all the necessary components for turbocharging. All in all, I think it costed me around $7000 to completely turbocharge my car. This didn't include all the time and labor. So what I'm trying to say is GET A SR20DET and throw it in. I'd would if I had to do it over again.
You really cannot go wrong with an engine swap. You get a turbo engine with low miles that is usually cheaper than a KA turbo. But I still think that KA turbos have more character.

Yo,
I got mine done, i shaved the block, and shaved the head, port and plished the head, and intake. Did not got new pistons just rings and such, the stock ones are nice! Nismo Cam shaft ajustable cam gear, i got some trany work done and gears all for about $5200... I am expecting 200- 240 hp. We also did stuff like electric fan, msd 6A BTM Ignition, and MSD Blaster II coil. put headers and pully on it. Did intake tube custom. Let me know about and questions you might have, i built the motor for hp and for capablities of running a super charger or turbo charging it. Time will tell

zao, how can that motor run a turbo or super charger when you increased the compression by shaving the head and block? What kind of compression are you expecting to be running with that setup?

you put headers on a single bank of pistons huh? how'd you do that?
I was going to ask some more but I already have a headache.

This is to contridicting. First you say it will be 200-240 HP N/A (it won't have any where near that HP, by the way) which would mean it's a high compression engine, then you say it's turbo ready which would lead me to believe it's a Low compression engine. Wait I just reread it, your running stock pistons  So really all you have is a cam, full exhaust, intake, ignition, and pulley, and ported a few things, whoa look out you may be pushing 160 HP http://forums.off-topic.net/images/smilies/tfg.gif
