So lately my tach has started having a mind of its own, bouncing around all over the place......yet after driving for a while it smooths itself out and acts normally. Also seems to do this in the mornings more often than anytime else, sometimes its normal from the get-go. This a sign of something in the cluster itself going? S14 SE cluster if it matters

Pull the cluster and check the connections in the back. Sometimes it just takes a little cleaning and it will do the job. Check for burnt traces also. If not then you might need another cluster.
