I'm having trouble installing the rear bumper kit on my 91 240sx fastback. I bought a Version Select type 1 rear bumper and it seems to not fit right/flush up to the lower panel piece. It has a big gap in between. Now to all the people in here who have bodykits on your fastbacks do you use/buy the JDM rear support bar or keep the USDM bar and customize it to make bodykits fit right?

You probably need something to hold it up.
Like a support bar or something on the actual bumper itself, to make the bumper cover sit up higher.

do you have the OEM support AND the styrofoam that attaches to it, i have both of those and my bumper is super snug up to the lower panel.
Me and a buddy used L brackets. Bolted them in place of the lower panel, so the bumper would sit on the bracket and not just hang.

Yes I have/using the OEM USDM support bar. So yours had no modifications at all? and your kit sits flush with the lower piece panel with no large gap?

Not all kits are created equal.
Gotta pay to play, or get uber good fitment.
Didn't pay? Well, gotta pay to fix it.

If you are too lazy to fab something up, you can always buy this part from URAS.

i have no gap at ALL. i have to almost force the bumper into place it fits so tight in there.
its weird because my kit is a cheap knockoff pile, version select is pretty high quality.

Remove garnish, Drill holes in it and the bumper, then zip tie it. Works fine.
The garnish has a lip on it so you cant see the zip ties and there are no gaps if you zip tie it in the correct places
Instead of drilling in your frame why not use the brackets? You can get those brackets at lowes for like 2 bucks or some shit.
