View Full Version : NRG Gen 2.5 QR... Flipper Q

So... friend of mine bought one, but he said he couldn't use the flipper to push the safety button down to release the steering wheel.
Now, I was wondering, are you supposed to be able to just use that flipper to disengage the safety button, much like if you were to have the extra flipper for the Works Bell Rapfix II system?
Those of you that have the Gen 2.5 QR, please chime in. Pics are welcomed too!

NRG? Thats your problem right there. Your friend should have gotten the Works Bell version. ;)

All you do is hold the button down while pulling the flipper. The flipper doesn't push the button down, that's something you have to do.
The put the wheel on, you just put it on and it'll click into place once it's aligned.

That's what I was asking. Didn't know if it was supposed to push the button down for you while you pull back on the flipper, or if you have to start the safety button first, then pull back on the flipper.

The NRG version has been out for like over a year or something.
Yes, you have to push the button down then pull the flipper.

I bet if you took a grinder to the safety button on the NRG gen 2.5 QR you could get the flipper to work "the way it's supposed to" lol

You could just take it apart and remove the button.
I don't see the need of it though.
Rather lessen the chances of some freak accident happening.
if you take off your steering wheel you theres a lil key you can pull out to get that button out.
or you can just grind it down to.
pull that crap out... its annoying as hell!

Would be kind of ridiculous to "accidentally pull the flipper" in the middle of doing whatever though, no?

yeah idk if i would feel all that safe without the button though.
On the NRG the button is kinda like the pill. You can f*ck the sh!t out of the girl, feel good about it and there is still a tiny chance of something bad happening andher getting pregnant. Now without the button you can bang the girl and the chances of something horrible happening and her getting pregnant are huge but you bang the shit out of her anyway.
see NRG 2.5 is girl
pregnant is NRG failing and coming off
driving = hot monkey sex
button = pill (makes you feel a bit safer)

I honestly don't see wtf would cause the flipper to all of a sudden get pulled, and your wheel magically falling off?
I mean, the wheel is tilted backwards, so gravity is already helping you...?

i think the moral of the story is leave the button or just get a worksbell

I like how people are like "225/35 stretched onto a 10" or 11" wheel is awesometown", but the same people are afraid of taking the safety button off of the quick release lol
Edit: Just chatted with TheRonTom31 above, who is the owner of the NRG QR that I spoke of in the first post anyway, and he informed me that the flipper part on the NRG Gen 2.5 QR is indeed spring loaded.
So... spring loaded flipper + gravity = girl that's genetically incapable of reproducing + on the pill = no babies = wheel is not going to magically fall off while driving for no reason.
Ergo, mystery solved, and this thread should be closed.

What?
Worksbell does the same thing.

Thread is re-opened, as I think Mr. Falkon has some useful information to add up in here.
my safety button on my NRG kept poping out so I just removed it. the only way the wheel is going to disengade is if you dilibretly do it.
Would be kind of ridiculous to "accidentally pull the flipper" in the middle of doing whatever though, no?
Do you realize how difficult that would be to do?

Do you realize how difficult that would be to do?
That was my point.
There are just so many things going against the "accidentally disengaging the QR's locking mechanism without the safety button in tact" theory that I don't think the safety button is really needed, except for the really paranoid people.

You can take the button out.
Been there done that.
I'm use to hitting the button. So when it was disengaged it didn't really change my qr removal qualifying times.

rotate snap ring in the flipper until the button hits on the space in between the snap ring.

THANK YOU! Fucking naysayers and morons in this thread.
If you don't have the actual item, STFU.
I have the flipper, and I can use it without pushing the button in.
There's an aluminum ring, inside the flipper.
If you rotate it correctly, you can get it to push the button down, when you apply pressure to the flipper.
If any of you dildos need pics post it up otherwise I'm going to let this one die in the archives.
EDIT: If you guys don't have experience using stuff, you should keep your mouths shut, and just let threads die. Instead of bumping them so
other flaming faggots can jump in on the action.
I know this is Zilvia, but this isn't a repost, nor is it a stupid question.
Obviously if it took 22 posts before someone could give a useful answer, there is no doubt that other people had this question.
The OP wasn't asking for your theories on how shit works.
Another group of posts that are annoying: Thinking that just because it's NRG the item is inferior to the original.
NRG stuff isn't half bad.
A lot of respected (and not so much) members use their products on the board.
I'm not one to usually praise knockoffs, but NRG actually seems to be one of the brands that tries to make improvements on their products, but everyone assumes that because they're a copy of the original item they suck.
I've never heard of anyone having a huge catastrophic failure while driving with an NRG product on their car.
And if they did you would hear about it on the news, or at least on the internet.
So please stop with the JDM superiority thing.

My NRG2.5 seems pretty sturdy.
I have said this to a few people.
Its alot better than the old one i had when they first came out with them.
I rotated the snap ring around and it still does not disengage as smoothly as i would think it should

I think you should wait until you have the hub, then install everything, THEN, see if the flipper works for you.
It might not work while you just have it in your office fiddling with it, as you might need for 1 end of the QR to be bolted to something so that you have more leverage.

On mine...my friend broke the button somhow...or made it fall out while I wasen't there. It then worked nicely as I didn't have to push down a button anymore.

The button on the 2.5 can very simple be removed. They even included the tiny little allen key remove the screw that somehow holds the button and spring in the QR

NRG works fine
My QR v2.5 has been workin fine for almost 2 years. If the flipper does not work then rotate the metal ring inside as previously mentioned.
Done datta
Kaizen.

My v2.5 works perfect! as do my nrg lock. I recommend it to everybody.
As mentioned above, just rotate the metal ring or spin the flipper 180 degrees.
