Alright, I get it that this movie is a few years old. Hence the year in the title. However, I just found it and watched it and found it....I don't know how to describe it.... interesting? I think the clearest thing I can say about it is that I had difficulty distinguishing the plot and actions from 'reality,' not that I am saying I have a severe mental disorder :bigok:, but more that the parallels between the movie and reality make the chemistry between the stars very believable. The fact that Furlong and Bella are currently married with a son and the way the film is shot (like a photo diary) only adds to this authenticity. Edward Furlong's fairly publicized problems with drugs etc. also make his character here more believable.
For better or for worse, this won, among other awards, the myspace Best Feature award at a film festival. The style of the film did, somewhat, remind me of myspace.
From the poster, I guess you could get the feeling that the movie is 'whiney emo pussy shit' but if you conclude that and skip it you will be missing something very interesting. I don't know if I will ever watch this movie again, but I was definitely worth the viewing once (Just like New Port South (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0229003/)). Strange, fucked up, interesting, intriguing, disgusting, frightening; these are just some of the words that don't begin to describe this movie.
Quick, very brief, completely unjust summary provided only to give you a hint as to the content (from Wikipedia):
A teenage outcast road movie, Jimmy and Judy follows a of a pair of outsiders who fall in love and out of control as they travel across an American landscape dotted with hypocrisy, materialism, drugs and violence.
The film focuses on classic themes such as adolescent rebellion, love, and anger. Jimmy and Judy are a modern day Bonnie and Clyde (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonnie_and_Clyde): destructive young lovers who leave the comfort of their suburban community in search of a better life in rural Kentucky.
Just have a look, I would say. If you don't like it, you have lost nothing but some time. If it causes some sort of reaction in you, then it's art. I would also say that this is probably something to watch alone, it was very powerful that way for me.
I will close by saying that mods, if this is inappropriate please remove it. I was unsure what Zilvia's stance is on movie review/suggestion threads as they don't seem to pop up that often and I did search and could not find a previous mention of this movie.
