ok, so the car was parked for a little over two years. drove the car home from storage spot, and it overheated, but odley the temp read normal (1/2 mark) ok, so to fix the problem i installed a new water pump, thermostat, radiator cap, radiator, and even a tune up cuz it needed one badley. after all that, it did the same shit! so im back to square one... any suggestions, help, or info will be greatly appreciated..
thanks, ronnie.

Coolant temperature sensor, possibly!

did you do a flush of the whole cooling system shiet couldve built up while it sat we had a car that overheated and we replaced almost everything and all it needed was a few flushes

I would say flush it, burp it, make sure than fan is operating properly and hook it up to a pressure tester to make positively sure there are no leaks and the coolant system is holding pressure. There are also several additives that cool much better than a conventional 50/50 mix of antifreeze, but the whole system has to be drained in order to use these (shouldn't be a problem if you are flushing it anyways).

1- flush the system
2- REMOVE the T-Stat (delet/junk it).
3- fill with water/antifrezz.
4- enjoy your NEVER-overheating car..
5- :)
The T-stat is causing the air to gather thus increase the temp of the engine...if you don't belive me....let it over heat then park and touch the LOWER water hose it will be cool...and the UPPER water hose will burn your hand...:squint:

No one mentioned the heater core. Coolant flows through there too. Put it on full blast and see if any air comes out of that. And totally deleting the t-stat isn't the greatest idea especially if you don't live in such a hot area. The motor won't ever reach optimal running temp.

I believe the second part but I do not believe the first part.
Can you explain why the thermostat causes "air to gather", and how does this affect coolant temp?
Sounds like a stuck closed thermostat to me.

dunno...
I live in a very hot area...every day the outside temp go up to 50*c = ~110*F...and i've swaped a brand new Nismo T-Stat and my car still overheat...i said fUke it..and deleted the T-Stat...now my car NEVER over heat's even in mid noon with the A/C on full blast....

b/c 99% Of KA owner flush the system WITHOUT removing the bleeder bolt on the upper water neak... = air will gather then it'll reach the T-Stat and close it....
OP :
Delet the T-stat Then Check every thing againe and you will see..

the reason why thermostat is there is to reach a normal working temperature.
take it off you will just run your engine cooler than normal. not good for the engine.
ronnie
i would say jack the car up as high as you can then open the rad filler cap start the car let it sit and warm it up for good 15 mins and let the air bubbles come out from the radiator. then keep filling it up. another thing to there is a bleeder screw on top of the upper hose from the block.

Check your radiator as well. If you are running an old stock radiator that has a shitload of bent fins, holes, etc. then air might not go through the radiator like it should, therefore not cooling down the coolant like it is supposed to.

Wait, the bleeder bolt is on the upper water outlet, which is naturally the highest point for coolant in the engine.
The thermostat is lower on the engine, not to mention all the way across from the bleeder bolt. Where is the air coming from that gathers at the thermostat, and why doesn't coolant flow displace the air and let the air bubbles percolate up to the radiator neck?
Wouldn't it be easier just to use the bleeder bolt like the way it was designed to be use and leave the thermostat alone, like the way it was designed to be used?

Yeah, Ali's post makes no sense. Why would you flush the sytem, and then take out the thermostat. If you want to see if your thermostat works you can run your car with the radiator cap off. If the water never flows through, it's stuck closed. If it flows the whole time, it's stuck open, or there isn't one there.
and, I run with no thermostat. But I hardly drive my 240, and when I'm driving it I'm beating the hell out of it. Believe me... It makes to the optimal temperature.
