it ran all night, like 10-15 runs
at first 12.0 at 117.9 with a 1.7 60ft
then a 12.4 at 121.7
then a 11.8 at 118, then a bunch of runs all between 11.8 and 12.2 trapping 120-122.5

I don't see how nissan could prove they were at the drag strip as opposed to doing a pull on the streets.

^^I agree.
I wonder how they can tell!
SPIES!!!
Each GTR comes with about 40-50 "little people" that follow and track every move of the car.
That HAS to be it!

Isnt GTRs hooked up to GPS so that the car will turn off its speed limiters and stuff when its on a track?
!Zar!

Couldn't one just unplug the gps?

Only in japan do the GTR's have that feature. In the U.S. they upped the speed governor a little bit from 111mph in Japan to 156mph in the U.S.
We know that the Nissan GT-R's ECU wizardry is impressive, but this little tidbit left us in awe. According to our friends over at the GTChannel, the GT-R's integrated computer limits the vehicle's speed in Japan to 111 mph (180 km/h), but once the GPS system detects that you've arrived at a domestic circuit, it removes the top speed limiter for all-out track assaults.
In the U.S., they've bumped up the electronically-limited top speed to 156 mph (250 km/h), but there's no integration with the GPS here in the States, meaning that anyone that wants to go faster on track has to have the ECU modifed. Nissan has made several overtures that the GT-R's ECU will be a tough nut to crack, but we're sure that enterprising tuners both here and abroad will be able to coax a few extra ponies out of the twin-turbo'd 3.8-liter mill and remove any electronic nannies that go with it.

Still waiting for the dealership here in town to get their 2 in. First one sold for $107k, lucky dentist.

eh, im over the GT-R...granted is a great car, but i guess im a little more grounded. im not about to start cranking it to a car i wont ever (want) to own..
I'll just keep working on my 18 year old shitbox car and enjoy it, i could care less...

Was he using launch control? He could have possibly netted an 11.6.
