there are little black plugs covering up the 4 bolts that hold onto the rear bumper support then the 4 or so bolts on each side of the bumper a couple underneath then it should just slide right out with a little tugging

there are a few bolts underneath the bumper that need to come out.
Open your trunk/hatch and move your carpet and spare wheel board.
there should be some nuts tighten down on both driverside and passenger side quarter panel area. They are held by a retaining clip. You need to pull hard sometimes.

No, leave the bumper support, new bumper will fit over it.
No reason to remove it.

Nah you dont have to touch the exhaust hangers
There is a Tow hook above the exhaust that I "think" there is two bolts to remove? I cannot remember right now and I cant see pics (@ work)
but what I posted should be the only things needed to pull the bumper off

the last time i attempted this i removed ever bolt mentioned in your guide but i was still stuck on the driver side right near the exhaust i could pull with all my might and it wouldn't budge i'm guessing maybe the tow hook was the culprit
thanks again for your help

Right well now that I think about it there are two bolt there
I didnt post it in my write up cuz I tried removing the tow hook before but didnt know it was welded to the bumper so i just left the bolts out

On the trunk floor, there are 4 rubber plugs the size of a silver dollar, 2 on each side. Remove the plugs and use a 12mm socket with an extension to remove these 4 bolts. These bolts hold the rear bumper support onto the frame rails.
On the very far left and right edge of the bumper, there are 6 nuts holding the bumper flushed with the rear quarter panels, 3 on each side. Use a 10mm ratcheting box end wrench. Depending upon how large your hand is, you may have to remove the vent door mounted on the inner fender to get clearance.
Remove the license plate light wires. I chose to clip them inside the trunk and make a harness because there is no easy way to snake the entire harness out of the bumper.
Pull back and the entire bumper and support will slide back and out.

so i don't have to remove anybolts from the exhaust hangers?
cuz i have all of those out and i still can't slide the bumper out

no. just the bolt on the inside of the rear quarter panels that hold the bumper 2 the panel and the 6 bolts under the top lip of the bumper. u have 2 remove tailights 2 reach these. under the bumper theres a few plastic screws 2. all of this is of course 2 remove the bumper + the insert. not the support.

Just pull out the entire bumper with support. Then you can figure out how to unbolt the bumper cover. It's easier to see the nuts and bolts.

Update: 1993 Convertible (coupe rear), but sounds like it is the same on hatches.
Unless you have already removed the drivers side tow hook, you will have to either remove the 2 bolts (good luck - mine were rusted to hell) or cut it off. I used a Saws-All from below, it took 3 minutes. I didn't even have to jack up the car but I did have to remove the exhaust back part.
The rear bumper will not slide out with the core unless the tow hook bracket is cut or unbolted.
Seems like this step is left out of most threads on rear bumper removal, perhaps because it is frequently already cut off for exhaust or other reasons.

Normally I would be mad, but this was a GOOD bump. Thanks for positively contributing!

Worthy revival, I know I was having trouble when trying to get the driver side support loose. Nobody seems to mention that you need to remove the tow hook bolts.

Yea sounds like you got it all figured out.
Srsly a "toe hitch"? Try google instead of making pointless threads.
