View Full Version : KA-T. Goes into boost, then stumbles out.

I just went KA-T.
I FINALLY put it on after letting the parts sit in my room for months.

Ran into a couple problems.
--Huge Exhaust leak... no biggie.
--Speedo wont work when chipped ecu is plugged in... ehhh ill figure it out somehow


but the big one is...

Ill go into boost fine, then the car just stumbles and dies.
After the first time it dies, it just continues to die and stall after i start it.

Possible solutions...
-Recirculate stock bov.
-gap spark plugs. [i didnt gap them when i got em]

What I got on my KA-T:
-T25
-370cc injectors
-N60 Maf
-Ebay manifold
-Stock SMIC with Stock piping.
-BKR7E Iridium Spark plugs [straight outta the box]
-z32 fuel filter
-s15 fuel pump

Someone help me out, I just need a lil more insight.

EDIT:
I also took out my carbon canister because it was hitting my piping.
I forgot to cap off the lines coming off of it.
[not the ones that go back towards the throttle body, the other ones.]

make sure the ecu is reading the chips

Well, I was running off my stock ecu,
I know it should run, a lil rich, but it still should run.

when i first did ka-t
the ecu wasnt running on the chips

so it ran stock ecu

n60+440cc

so it was idling 11afr
went for a drive/boost
then it stumbled like crazy and wont hold idle
=blown all 4 ringlands


why are you boosting on the stock ecu?

because the n60 & 370cc injectors are not too far off.

n60+440cc injectors equals super rich.


but thats besides the point.
im gonna try to chipped ecu, gap the plugs tomorrow.

If that doesnt work, I gotta keep looking for a hose I could use to recirc.
I have been looking but cant really find anything.

hmm, so does it still start ?

how does it have a smooth idle?

don't really understand what your trying to say, are you saying that after you boost the car stalls and dies?

if thats the case, then just turn your TPS up and let that thing idle at like 1,000rpm, and it should be fine, i had the same problem, i boosted fine, but after boost it stalls and just shuts off, i turned my TPS up and let that thing idle a little higher than 800rpm and it ran perfectly fine, boosted great as well, until my recirc hose poped off. hahaha.

-Don't know what kind of spark plugs.

yeah i know.
threw on the chipped ecu today.
worked good.

no more starting the car and dying,
but the engine did just fall flat on its face
when i came to a stop
and found out my alternator died.

battery light was on and car wouldnt start because not enough juice.


i might have to see if the engine will stall when i come to a stop from running the stock bov to the atmosphere.

i had the same shit
rebuilt motor then put turbo in and stupid alternator decides to crap out!:(
