Yesterday I was bored, so I went to a raceway park for the first time. My first run was 60' 2.344, 1/4 16.465 @ 84.19. then I kept running 16.5xx. that makes me sad. i have i/h/muffler and an aluminum crank pulley, and I was hoping to run in the mid 15's.
I have cheap tires and two of them are in bad shape. when I drive slowly i can feel one of the tire not rolling smooth on the ground.
By how much will these tires slow me down? and I'm gonna be buying rims and tires 215/50-16(hopefully soon), I need suggestions on what get.
I'll appreciate your help

I'll give you something to make you feel better:

First (and only) time at the track, I was driving my SOHC with NO mods (except a removed resonator) and crappy tires and a worn clutch....etc. etc. Bear in mind, this was at Bandimere Speedway (elevation nearly 6000 ft). That adds about 1 second.

But the best I could manage was a 17.955...how sad is that. Worst part? I had a 18.1 dial-in, so I broke out and had to go home. Only saving grace was that BOTH of my friends driving CRXs broke. I was the only one with a running car at the end of the day. Hahahah. One pushed too much nitrous, the other grabbed 1st instead of 3rd...oops.
