Long story short. a friend of mine crashed his 240 and gave me his dual cam. There was a catch, when he got into a accident the timing chain cover cracked, oil pickup and oil pan was bent. He started working on it and just gave up and started another project. He took off timing chain cover, oil pan, lower timing chain sprocket, lower tensioner, pulleys.

My questions are,
1) where do i start
2) do i put the pulley back on and put #1 to TDC
3) can i just slap new parts back on

Info on me, i did a couple of swaps before but ive never delt with timing chain issues.

bump.. no help?..well i know the #1 cylinder is not at TDC because the lobes on the camshaft is facing inwards rather than outwards. another question is how do i put on the lower timing chain sprocket without skipping a link.?

Your halfway done, put the new tensioners on and new chain on then get all your marks lined up and put it back together... Very simple im about to go do mine right now

im using the old chain and tensioners..a new question is how do i find the marks on the chain. i cleaned the chain with WD-40 to see the silver link but i cant seem to find it..all i see is JAPAN in little tellers on some of the links..
