FYI:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v631/gtstwincam/mrclean.jpg
A sprayer with a deionized filter cartridge.. lasts up to 10 washes. No more water spots and hand drying the car...
I just bought it this evening and havent tested it yet. but i invested in it for my black car as even the slightest touch of the car with your finger will scratch it.
$15.00 for the system and $5.96 for cartridge refills.
Not a bad deal..
Available at WALMART.

they worked fine, but they broke so easily. i went through 3 before i decided it wasnt worth it....
plus the water in my area is pretty hard so the filters lasted 1-3 washes :(.
it was nice being able to shoot soapy water though.

over the years i've developed a simple method that seems to work for me.
1.) park car in shade
2.) spray front half of car with hose, soak a car sponge in hose water
3.) using a spray bottle filled with car was soap concentrate, spray a tiny bit of soap onto each wet panel and rub it around with the sponge
4.) rinse
5.) repeat 2-3 for back of car
6.) rinse whole car
7.) dry with electric leaf blower
8.) u rappin cool

I hear those leave a nasty residue on the car. Not worth it IMO. Just get a foam car wash gun. Wash in the shade and dry the car. It also helps to use filtered water.

Actually, if you take some distilled water and pour it over the car when your done washing. It will take most of the spots off with it, and won't really need to dry it. It's called the waterfall technique.

I haven't had any problems w/those chamios. I was really impressed with the one I bought. My dad saw how well it did and had me go and buy him one. Best $10 bucks i've ever spent.
I just clean out a bucket, fill it w/water and soap, then rinse the car, give it a soapy sponge bath, rinse, dry. Looks perfect.
i use this squigee thing i got at walmart to remove about 90% of the water from the flat sufaces them wipe itr dry with a cottom cloth of some sort. it works pretty well.

The AutoDry thing is pretty much garbage. It will still leave water spots in addition to its own crap that it leaves on the car, and if you're lucky, you might get 5 washes out of it. Don't use it unless you like to wash your car two times in a row.
+1 for leaf blower.

the brink of technical discussion has been reached. we can wash a car just by spraying it. quit being lazy get on autopia.org and learn how to properly wash your car. this is not it.

Ya I would tend to say this is not a technical discussion. Unless of course you never graduated High School and failed in Science.

I get free car washes because of where I work. Its awesome. Walk to the car wash, Get the remote, set it to "wash down" and have at it. I dont care about water spots. Its free!!!!
But yeah the absorber is great. Also, the "california dry" squeegy thing my friend chuck had, its a clear soft rubber squeegy, it works awesome.

i wouldnt use any squeegee on black cars. even if you do a thorough wash, often there are still dirt that you can easily miss. that is the reason why pro detailers wash twice.
anyhow squeegees on black cars can potentially spell hairline scratches everywhere. even on my old black evo, i'd be extremely cautious with it. do 2 washes before it touches the paint.

What i've done for years is to go to the spray it yourself carwash and take a bucket and a car brush not the one at the car wash because it's nasty. I'll put a couple of dollars in to just spray it with water and when there is a minute left on the timer I fill up my bucket with plain water then add my soap and wash the car. Then I put a couple more dollars in and just rinse it, then with the last couple of minutes left I'll put it on spot free rinse and I'm done and then just use my chamie? to finish it off. So I only spend like 5.00 total
ABSORBER FTW!
Seriously. It leaves very little water marks. I even use it on my windows. Good enough.

I put POLYMER SEALANT on the car...........and all I have to do is brush off dirt with a California Duster. I never use water.

the mr. clean works awesome. i don't know what any of you are talking about
maybe some of you aren't using it properly? standard water stream isn't filtered. only the 'mist' option on the selector is filtered and is therefore the last step. spray, soap, scrub, spray, repeat, then mist the hell out of it, finally air dry - no towelling needed. no spots.
the filter it comes with is a crappy sample filter only good for a few washes. an actual retail filter lasted me like two summers
the worst thing about it is the plastic attachment that screws onto the hose. if you have too much pressure and drop the gun accidentally it pops off and takes the shitty plastic threads with it

Ummm, I have the outside tap already hooked up to the water softener. Best thing i ever did. I can wash my car, let it air dry and no spot's. EVER

I used the Mr. Clean works great... and yes it will break if you drop it and treat it like shit.... but so does everything else thats plastic...
the "absorber" chamois suck donkey balls!
buy the japanese one its soo much better.. best thing is you can leave them in your car for a quick wipe down when filling gas...
drill a few holes in the top of the container if you dont want it to get moldy

I wish I had the damn time to wash my own car, but for now, a 7$ car wash with wax, vaccum and hand dried every once in a while gets the job done.
