i keep on hearing people say that the new skyline is now the infinit G35 and asking questions regarding whether they can swap in a new gt-r engine (when it comes out of course). But what i would really like to know is, is there going to be a new model of the silvia whether it be in a new form like the nissan skyline is being produced through infiniti. Will it still be known as a silvia? And does anyone have any of those computer generated pictures of what it would look like? Sorry for all the questions but i'm just wondering whats going on with the silvia, it seems like no one is anticipating it over the fact that the skyline is in production.
last I heard, there were no Silvia production plans. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

menikmati- I'll answer your question so that maybe it will be adding to the search information. I'd hate to see how many hits "use search" would get.
Nissan discountinued the S15 in August and said there were no plans for any more S-Chassis cars. The SR20 is also gone because of the new VQ engine. I've heard that there may be another S16 but it might be called the V16 and use the VQ motor. But that wouldn't be until 2006. Same goes with the GT-R. I don't know how true any of that is. There was a pic going around awhile ago that was supposed to be the S16. I think it was fake but you could see similarities to the S15. Looks like that picture is long gone too.

I think I saw "the" in there somewhere. That's about the extent of what I read.
Really though, badmojo, please stick to PM's comments like that, or leave it up to the moderator, and Silviadriver, relax! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

SilviaDriver your post was way to long to read, but here is all I have to say.
The "S" chassis car is dead and there will not be another Silvia. The only car in the U.S. that can come close is the G35 coupe....in fact it much better than the recent S15...IMO.

Oh yea....its going to be hard to find any pics by doing a SEARCH.

The G35 coupe isn't comparable. It replaces the ECR34 Skyline 25GT-T coupe.
Nissan has no plans to offer another car in the Silvia's segment, but I don't blame them... the 180/200/240SX/Silvia series was NEVER a hot seller outside Japan except for the first couple years of the 240SX. Nissan's new vision is very global; their new products are all very "un-Japanese" in character.
If we see another low-priced Nissan coupe it'll more likely be in the vein of the Pulsar, NX2000, and 200(Sentra)X. The Silvia/240SX's old competitors have all either gone softer (Eclipse), gone smaller (Celica), or gone away (Prelude).

i'd say the G35coupe is still the closest thing to the S-car so far. similar dimensions and price tag (well, base model G35c compared to a new fully loaded S14) and performance oriented... it's what I'd buy if i had the money to get a new car.
What would be interesting: using the FM platform from the G35c, a VQ engine, and more nissan-ish styling (as compared to infiniti-ish) to make a 2 door "version" of the SE-R. Of course, it seems more likely to end up FWD...
misnomer

I assume the G35 coupe uses the VQ35 engine, and at least physically it's strikingly similar to the 350z. How are those two cars different? It seems the G35 is a bit longer and narrower than the Z, and with the Infinity tag on it probably more of a luxury coupe. . . Though, most specifications I recall seeing on the G35 are damn close to the new Z. What are your thoughts on this?

Well if Nissan decides to go with the VQ later on, hopefully it can be swapped into our engine bay

The G35 coupe is heavier(sp), more luxurious, has more interior space (back seats), and higher price tag compared to the Z. It's based on the same platform as the Z, but with a stretched wheelbase. The Z is directed more to the collectible, hardcore, sports car enthusiasts. While the G35 coupe is directed to does who like to cruise in style and comfort, but have alittle (or alot) of go with that show.

All correct with one exception... According to motor trend (who gave G35 coupe and sedan car of the year) say that the G is LESS than the Z, even for the 4 seat heavier coupe...
