Power wont shut off?

When i turn the key in the ignition on position and then turn the key back off and pull it out, i still have power. My windows still work and the red warning lights on my gauge cluster will not shut off (such as the open door, oil light, e-brake). the only way for me to shut the power off completely is to turn my car on (start the motor) then turn it off.

Ive printed out the starting system wiring diagram in the fsm and retraced my wiring and it looks fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you running a turbo timer?

or even a car alarm that somewhat has the same feature?

i had my apexi turbo timer hooked up awhile back and it still did the same thing. i am in the process of reorganizing my harness. i am almost done, i just wanted to test to see if everything still worked. really want to solve this problem.

Try checking all the wires under your steering column.

Was the problem AFTER you installed the apexi timer?

A few buddies of mine had the same problem. (They found out the a butt connector on the 12v constant ignition wire was shorting out)

thanks, ill retrace the wiring from the turbo timer tomorrow and see if anything comes up.

It used to not do this when i bought the car and when i first installed the turbo timer, i guess after awhile it started to do this.

got done tracing the wires for the turbo timer, and everything looks good. looked through the ecu plug to see if any wires needed to be fix and nothing. the ignition wires for the key cylinder look good.

the only thing i can think of is the cylinder it self. are these things known for having problems like this? how would i replace it. it uses some kind of wierd bolt that holds it in.

maybe, mine did the same thing like 4 years ago. turned out to be 2 wires rubed through the insulation

Solved the problem!!!

after reading that, i narrowed my possibilities of it being (relay, ground, ignition switch) I first searched my grounds and everything looked right, then i went off to the relays and found that the brown relay behind the fuse block wasnt working correctly, so i swapped it out with the other brown relay to test, and what do you know my shit works. now all i have to do is find a relay at a store like this one and i am golden.

call your local nissan dealer with the part number on the casing. They'll probably have it in stock.

ok to clear things up once again.

do not want anyone reading this and getting the wrong info about my problem, incase others have similar.

Ok So apparently my problem was still happening. The brown relays did not solve my issue. After reading the other thread i found a million times, i went back out and researched everything. Once again everything looked fine. I went out and bought a brand new ignition switch and a bunch of those brown relays (more than i needed, the more the better :) ). I swapped those out and i was still having the same problem. The new ignition switch did not help at all. So my last amature wiring skills knowledge was to mess with that small blue relay next to the brown relay on the bracket of the giant main plug harnesses. What do you know, my car works with no problems at all. everything works fine now. not really sure what that relay has anything to do with, but apparently from reading that other thread, it is important (i do not feel like looking it up in the fsm, lazy and tired, hehe). The guy that posted in there did the same thing and works. all i did was unplug it, hit it a few times and pluged it back in.

time to return this sucker, and get my 41 bucks back.

now i can get back to finishing up my harnesses knowing that everything works now and no more problems :)
