walboro 255lph f/p
FMIC
Greddy BOV recirculated
safcII (only being used to monitor sensors, its not hooked up to maf wire)

These past few days has been really hot here in socal. I've noticed that my knock levels on my safcII has gone up on the monitor page. I've set my knock level reference as per the manual at the two specified rpm points. So, I decided to check what the levels were on the settings page. When the engine is warm the levels are peak at 20 but as the car warms up the levels climb. I decided to remove my knock sensor from the block and tape it up. I still got the same results. My knock levels go up even though my knock sensor isn't directly connected to the block but still connected to the harness. also just sitting idle the knock levels rise. Could this be a bad knock sensor?

The reason your knock levels go up at idle is because you has less oil pressure so things are a bit looser, and you dont actaully have knock at idle thats pretty much impossible, all it is is engine noise the knock sensors is picking up, all this is only made worse in hot weather when the oil thins out faster and is thinner than it would be in cooler weather or night time driving.

Heres what you wanna do to cancel alot of that noise its picking up at idle, drive the car until it is good and hot perferable on a very hot day and recalibrate your knock sensor at a red light, thats it real easy to do and you'll see way less "noise" being picked up from the knock sensor.

Unisa Jecs is absolutely correct. It's just the warm pavement and warm air heating up your oil.
