I'm getting a c-pillar bar and UPS is going to drop it off tomorrow and I just want to know if I can keep the plastic seat belt covers with the bar in place. Has anyone installed one on a hatch?

most require the removal of the plastics... but maybe you can measure and cut holes out and make it look clean with the plastics on there.

Thanks for the advice people, I'll probably look into cutting out holes like S13silady said, I like how the covers makes everything look tidy. I'll post pictures later on :D

the bracket is pretty fat... doubt the cover can be modded to fit over it. It would look nicer, but i think after hackin up your cover there mite not be anything left. Good luck tho.

If you wanna keep that seat belt cover, you're going to have a hard time fitting it, I just threw mine away.

I planned on doing the exact same thing; Keep Rear Belts, and cut through the plastic cover and make it clean/oem appearing. When I installed mine, it took a lot of effort to try and complete it with the Rear Seat Belts. The Seat Belt setup is like 2 Brackets held in by a screw on a weird angle... I, doing this alone, had a hard time holding, now 3 brackets with the C Pillar mounting point, together while trying to get it mounted. After a good effort I said F the Rear Belts, and it took me 1/3 the time to install it w/o the seat belts, then it did with. GL on the attempt, I'm going to try and find a pic...

Found it:

That was a very productive night; got my Cusco Rear Strut Bar & Megan C-Pillar Bar installed, as well as completeing my Tannou Cover 6X9 Set-Up.

The install is still clean w/o the covers/belts, honestly. Believe it or not my rear hatch is closed in the picture, cleanliness courtesy of "Invisable Glass" cleaner, still need to get it tinted =( But yea that's what the lines are.

haha seems like I'm going to ditch the seat belt covers, do you feel any slight difference with the bar in place?

Yeah, you have to remove the covers and seat belts... I have no rear seat belts and it sucks when I HAVE to drive people around in the back. :[

Honestly, with the bar, if it's your first bar like that you're going to notice a huuuuge difference but if you already have rear and front struts it won't be that big but you can tell either way.

Well the bar is installed, after my lack of tools and a deep cut on the thumb for being impatient.

Yes literally that's what I had to work with (until my neighbor came home and I borrowed a few more lol)

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a49/jworks/c-pillar/127_0335.jpg
I decided to take the seat belt assemblies off because the bolt was too small and I wanted to cut the cover to properly fit over the bar

I don't think this is right but this was the only way the bar could fit even after the adjustments on the sides

Everything tightened up, double checked for any slack in the bar
