So i have a '89 240sx and really am not to sure of the condition of the drivetrain. I bought the car for 600 dollars in need of a new complete harness. I am really not feeling like putting the rest of the harness together though. Call me lazy but this car is just a play car and thats all it will be...

Now to the questions...

I want to go carbed v8...
How much bracing will i need with this motor?
It will be an iron block but i may try and get an aluminum block to do a light build with.
But for fabrication sake. How much bracing for a iron block v8?

The car is going to be a straight line show car toy... thats it. Please help me with the extra bracing that maybe required.

It's highly dependent on the mounts. If you do it right, you need no additional chassis bracing.

On my setup, note the height of the carb with respect to the top of the core support. There are kits available that place LS-series motors and have the intake sit above the core support, and their intake is shorter than carbed intakes. I'm still able to retain stock hood clearance with the big ass K&N filter over the carb.

Also note the distance betwen the timing cover and the radiator. It's an S13 SR Koyo so it's thicker than stock. Again, compare with other kits and check for timing cover to radiator clearance.

Is this a question? I prefer cast iron blocks for strength and rebuildability. Because the motor is set far back, I don't notice a difference over KA or SR.

Like I said above, if you do it right, there's no bracing necessary.

I daily that setup you see there. Road and track tested. Never failed on me in terms of chassis strength. My chassis is also very straight and has no rust. Actual results may vary.

my car was hit in the rear quarter but frame seems to be straight and no rust has been found on frame rails or anything.

I'm not sure what you want to hear. There's no more need than with any other drivetrain setup if done properly.
