im getting 2gs come august that ima be able to put in to the car. .ima get a 5spd swap done so thats 800 dollars. . so that leaves me with 1200 plus whatever i have extra saved up . .i was thinking either get all the body work done or get coilovers. . i have some mesh enkei 16x7 +23 with 20mm spacers for the the back thatt ive been meaning to get on the car . . what to do, what to do . . the only place ive gotten a quote from was from maaco haha but i saw a s14 there that was preety sick getting some body work done there so i guess they do good work lmk! thanks
the body needs a lot of work probably simple but i have no experience with it:P
plus anyone know where i can get body work done im my price range? ie someone from zilvia or something thanks

Coils first.
Remember kids, function before form.
Body work is the LAST thing you should do.

lol dont be a typical s chassis owner. Fix the body, otherwise you'll be RIDIN LOW HOMIE YEE YEE and the strut towers will POP like a hoe when you hit them sewer holes hard uuuh yeeeee ballin. Rustaaaaa playin them bitchin rides w00t w00t.
Function or form? Actually even coilovers seems more of a 'form' thing lmao.
Either do it right or pay now be 'cool' (retarded) and in the end throw away your car while you 'ridin low'.
Shit man, I paid so much on my car, and now I'm overhaulin this beotch again.. should have done things right to begin with.. could have saved lots of money... plus spending whatever money you got on some shitty coilovers to just drop the height you will pay later for better dampers anyways once you get into your car.
At least if you're going to spend the money on some dampers, buy something worthwhile like koni yellows +GC, you'll have good handling, some drop say like 2" max max (good for you ignore what others say) and you'll have a comfortable ride and locally rebuildable dampers, while the other homies will 'be riding low' as their butts get pounded by potholes.
In a nutshell I think what most s chassis owners lack is patience, with empty wallets, but high hopes and dreams, hehe.
It's like temptation "oh man I GOT TO HAVE IT" and then running it on a broke ass vehicle.

what brand of coils are you looking for?
is it for performance?

Coilovers first !! The outside look of your car should be the last thing you focus on IMO.

i love how ahmed trys to actually inform somebody on a smart desicion.. but instead everybody always screams for the stupid low and shitty quality, instead of intelligently low and amazing quality.. but +1 for u man.. i'll go back to nissanroadracing.com where quality information is being posted.... lol
coils for the win, body work attracts unwanted attention.

Wow, excercise in mediocrity. I personally would say go for some good coils, I do not consider Megan's good. Knock off body kits are a crap shoot, if they fit like shit they look like ass. You will wind spending extra just to make them fit and lock decent. Focus on suspension because your talking about a 20 year old car. A nice looking car with crap suspension is like ugly.

If you wanna do both, just cut your springs and then do all your body work! zomg you'll get the best of both worlds! lower it, look good while doing it, come on! Everyone's doing it!

even just coilovers make the car look that much better, its like best of both worlds!!
theres cars that i have seen with good wheel fitment, fenders pulled and rolled, with dents, bondo, and i still think there badddd asss cars

Better yet, get the coils, sand your car down, buy a gallon of primer, bring your car to me, give me $50, and I'll spray your shit primer black?
(Yes, using a paint shop set up. Compressor + gun. None of that rattle can shit)
Now, you'll have a solid colored car slammed to the ground prepped for real paint.
Oooolala.

You are fucking retarded.
Go back to the Canuckistan section. This is the SOUTH WESTERN STATES section. You know, for the southwestern part of the USA that doesn't inflict severe rust damge. Duh.
Rusted and popping strut towers? GTFO. This ain't Canada. The OP is from SoCal, and as such, he won't have problems like that unless he lives in fucking Big Bear.
And like Dave said... A good looking car with crap suspension is still ugly.
Quality coils = win... Body work later. As long as your car isn't falling apart due to cancer issues, body work should be the last thing on your mind.

Addicted2kouki and I should join together and help these broke ass kids get their cars into a solid color.
He can do the body work, I can do the paint.
Done and done.

well it depends what kind of income you have coming in first off...i would say get the body work BECAUSE its super easy for me to save for coilovers because i feel they are needed. i can never save for body work because i dont really care a great deal about it. if funds are limited surely go for the coilovers....
now let me start by saying a 5spd swap could cost you only 500 if you do it right but ill say 600 to be a little more fair. then you should have 1400 left over... you could sand and prep your whole care yourself and then take it to earl shieb or some company like them and get your car painted for under 400. so then you have 1000 left... then get BC racing coilovers they are around $950 dollars....i honestly doubt you can hold a budget like that...i cant, but i know it can be done. it may cost you somewhere arounds 2200 because of shipping and for sandpaper and bondo but you would be damn close

its not neccesarilly function or form here...
its a simple questions of
what ur doing with the car?
is it a show or is it for actual driving...I.E. drift competitions canyon carving...etc
how old are u?
by that i mean do u work, earn some income or are u still in high school and 1000 bucks seems like the jackpot?
are u patient? by that i mean do u have other means of transportation, is this ur DD or ur project car
if ur anser for 1 is Show car, then get the body done and then dont worry about coils, just get some dropped springs and struts, cuz ur not gonna beat it any way...
if ur answer for 1 was for actual driving then obviously get the fucken coils...paint its gonna make u drift/track better
if ur a kid in school and 1000 is a shit load of money...i would suggest u save it, since u have a good start off point and get both at the same time...
if u have a job, NOT A CAREER, i still say save it, depending on how much u earn, u can save a pretty penny ...unless theres an event ur tryint to compete in and u need new suspension...obviously coils...
if ur patient u can wait for both at the same time, or u might even save enough for somethign better, if ur impatient ur gonna fucken regret shit...and ur gonna regret it more if ur a high schooler with a minimum paying job...

My 5-speed swap came out to $1200ish doing it myself.
Why?
Because I chose to do it right the first time.
Exedy Stg. 2 clutch
Fidanza flywheel
B&M Short shifter
90k mile tranny(thanks to Dalaz_68)
Nismo tranny mount
Running on nothing but Royal Purple gear oil.
Get some friends that know what they're doing and swap that bitch.
Shouldn't take more than a day to be honest.
