I searched loking for info on this. A lot of people on here have had blown turbo's so i'd figured i'd find something, but i did not.

I have no oil leaks anywhere.Car does not smoke at ALL. Just the other day the turbo started making very stranges noises. When im driving normally not hitting boost, there is no strange sound. As soon as i accelerate harder, then the turbo starts to sound like it's Squealing/screeching. Very odd. It does not sound like it use to when it was spooling before.

It's got to be the turbo, everything else is sound. It only make this noise apon spool up.

Any thought's guys?

Sounds like you may have an exhaust leak where the manifold and turbo are bolted together. Feel around there while the car is running and see if you feel any air escaping. Those gaskets blow out so easy.

There was just a thread like this one, check for a boost leak if it's a whining noise.

well...i blew up my s15 turbo and it did not have any smoke, either. But it was making noise even when the car was idling. I'd say check your shaftplay. If your oil seal is still good, the car shouldnt smoke...but that doesnt mean you dont have any shaftplay

Exhaust leak ~ put your hand around the 4-bolt manifold, you'll feel 'air' coming out. Get the OEM 'locking tabs' when you re-assemble.

The Turbo bolts were backed out a bit. They were Re-tightened. But it's still making the noise. I'll have to check it again when it day light out.

these happened to me as well. If your turbo bolts backed out it's a good chance that your gasket is already warped so even if you re-tightened it will still find a way to leak. Your best way fix this is. replace the gasket and nut with a locking washer. Also a good thing to do is to spot weld the nut so it wont go nowhere and just grind it off should you need to take it off again. GL

make sure its not getting starved for oil as well, that sound might be the bearing eating itself because of oil starvation...

The sound of a wheel scraping the inside of the housing matches what you're describing, as well. If I were you I'd pull the turbo off and see if things are chewed up.

I checked around where the turbo bolts to the mani, and i dont feel any air coming out of there. Im going to take off the turbo, check the turbo and gasket, to see what it is. Most likely i will have to replace the turbo.

Thanks everyone...

does it sound like some weird phaser gun, or like the railgun from the game quake... mines making weird noises, now the car is behaving like a non turbo slow piece of crap
